Hi all,

I am using Merlin's build: 3.0.0.4.246.20 :p

Can somebody tell me how to adjust the wireless power excess 200mW for both bands ?

As I remembered, last time I could adjust it to 500mW in an older build...

Asus changed the limitations to bring them within the legally allowed limits.

So you are saying that there is no way to adjust the power again ?

There is no way to go beyond 200 mw over the webui anymore. And to be honest, you don't want to either. Asus confirmed in a post a few months ago that anything that high would introduce too much distortion in the signal anyway, leading to worse performance rather than being helpful.

And on top of that... If you need that kind of power to reach a client, then your client would also need to be able to reply back with the same amount of power, or else the router wouldn't be able to hear it back. I doubt any computer wireless NIC lets you do that.

Personally, I consider most of these power adjustment settings to be more marketing gimmicks than actually helpful. If you have a range issue, the only truly reliable solution is to use better antennas on both the router and the device you are trying to reach. Or, to deploy a repeater.
