Hi all,

I am using the latest Merlin firmware released for the N66u and have managed to get both my ipad and Apple TV working on the 5ghz band. However when browsing webpages on the ipad it seems to lose speed and become slow and loading pages, however the signal level show full. Also the Apple TV which is close to the router will randomly stop playing Netflix for example although the Apple TV is still connected to the router.

You wouldn't happen to have IPv6 enabled, would you? That really killed performance for me in the latest ASUS firmware, which the current Merlin is based on.

Thanks but I'm not using IPV6, I ended up buying a switch and wiring up my devices and then switching my ipad back to 2.4ghz. Seems to take an age to sync back on the wireless compared to 2.4ghz on the ipad.

Just wanted to say that I borrowed a Netgear R6300 and the lag is not there at all on this device on any Ipad in the house it's great. I have to give it back but when testing here was a big difference and 5gh was as snappy as 2.4ghz. Now got to figure out why 5ghz feels so slow on the N66u

are both the router on the same channel? also is your set to 40 or 20 and 40? I believe you were the one that was also having issue with 2.4 correct? It really looks like your RT66 is a defect. Like in the other thread, I had slow connection issue with a previous RT66 I had. The new one I got has no issue.
