It does have a new wireless driver.

Not seeing IPv6 working for this one...back to the previous for me. And after going back to 266.23b, IPv6 came right up. Too bad.

so far so good, what is the recommended advanced settings for wifi as i have defaults.

I also have the defaults for the wireless settings on the 'Professional' tab. I picked a fixed, uncrowded 2.4G channel based on a channel scan with inSSider. I also have a fixed upper 5.0G channel at a 40MHz fixed bandwith.

Any idea whether the modem drivers have been updated ?

I need Huawei E398 and Huawei E3267 LTE drivers.

I notice that with password protected for Samba share, folder names has been simplified.
It used be like NAME(sda1) now it is just NAME.
IMO this is a stupid change, I have two folders with the same name in different drives now I cant distinguish them.

Interesting. I added that to my firmware, however I made it configurable. Can you check if Asus might have made it configurable as well, on the http://192.168.1.1/Advanced_AiDisk_others.asp page?

Has anyone with wireless issues (especially with an XBox 360) tried this firmware? Is wireless working properly for you now with the new driver?

FWIW, didn't see anyone post the new driver version:

admin@RT-N66U:/tmp/home/root# wl ver
5.110 RC27.20012
wl0: Dec 22 2012 12:01:30 version 5.110.27.20012

Seems very recent, thanks Asus :p

No, it is not configurable on that page.
What is the variable name to configure that setting in nvram for your firmware?
Let me check if that variable is present.

Variable name is "smbd_simpler_naming".

I posted a link to the firmware in the thread regarding the xbox slims wireless issues. There was one person who offered to give it a shot and let us know. So far he hasn't said anything though.

Nope, it is not there. The newer version also converts some upper case to lower case in folder names(not all folders, just some).
I think if every char in your folder name is upper case it will convert it to lower case.
I tried in two drives, you can make 4 identical folders in \\RT-N66U.
In drive 1 make 2 folders name a and A
In drive 2 make 2 folders name a and A
Then they all becomes a in \\RT-N66U. LOL
RMerlin if you can and if you agree on what I said, maybe pass on these thoughts to the developers. I dont want to see these changes in the next official version.

This is just an unofficial beta that regular users aren't meant to be running (someone dug it out through random testing of filenames on their FTP site), so it might be a bit early to worry yet. There's no telling if this feature is even fully implemented yet or not.
