Media Server Problem

Hey all, I just upgraded to the .318 FW, and now my media server functionality is completely shot. I have a large USB drive attached, just as I always have, only now I can't start the media server function. When I go to install, and select drive to share, it starts "checking the disk" and then moves on to "updating", and then it stops and notifies me that "The remote server is not responding." It does it with whatever external drive I try to hook up to the router.

If someone could shed some light on this, I'd greatly appreciate it as the media server function is what I primarily use the router for in my home.

Thank you!

Small bug, and easy fix

Hi,

I'm using firmware 3.0.0.4.318

After upgrading from .260 none of my five PCs were seeing the SMB share from the RTN56u. (They were still seeing the DLNA "Media Device" RTN56U, however). SMB was enabled and correctly configured in aiDisk in .206 as well as .318.

fix:
To fix it I had to enable the "Download Master" in USB application. Once I did that the SMB share showed up again.

I then disabled the "download master" and the SMB shares were still available.

Thanks.

problems with 206

after having issues with 318 I went back to 206. Although I do not have connection issues I do have some others. I can only intermittently find a network printer I use. I have a manual IP assigned and have port forwarding set to this IP. Also having issues with Itunes library sharing. I can port forward to one computer and share that one but obviously I can't see the other libraries

I'm going back to .206 as well. I'm having issues with Remote Desktop stability when inside and outside of my home network w/ .318.

.206...not to be confused with .260 that also gave me wireless G issues.

so far .206 has kept my WAN stable. web browsing is fast and doesnt die after one day.

Im a pretty basic user, so no strange config. but so far 206 is what I will stick with. Im glad to have found this forum.

I agree with you, for the past a few months i have been trying to make padavan's firmware work for me. It works but i have to reboot all the time. One of the reason why i dont use asus' official firmware is because of the flaky download master. Now i loaded .206 and install transmission on it, i forgot how fast it load web pages and not dropping 5ghz at all. Running transmission 24/7 didnt hang the router too. Thanx for the community here.

The whole reason I moved to .318 was to get airprint working for my wife's IPAD, and it was working fine on .318. The issue was the WAN stability. So I moved down to .206 and the WAN stability is perfect as far as I can tell but now Airprint (bonjour) is broken in this version...

Can we get a stable release any time soon? shoulda bought a cisco rounter...

EDIT: I tried a reset last night. Bonjour will worked last night but this morning my wireless printer was gone.

Any word on a fix for this, if not Im ditching this black POS.

I can also agree that 206 was very stable. Although I am using Padavan's firmware at the moment, Love the user interface and the speed of webpages. They load instant. But sadly the router slows down. I wonder why..

It happened since padavan implement ipv6 fw. All other fw he has 1.xx revision dont slow down. 3.xx does. Try 1.1.2.3-010. The only downside of that firmware is, the media server is not as fast in term of scanning medias.

I am also using .318 and experienced WLAN issues especially with Apple devices like iPhone or iPad. I changed the following settings:

IGMP snooping: disabled (for Airprint)
Multicast Rate: disabled
TX Bursting: enabled
packet aggregation: disabled
WMM APSD: disabled
WMM DLS: disabled

I did not have any issues for weeks.

someone please give feedback on -321. a changelog would be nice too. =)

how is the ping time? media server? download master? web pages loading time?

so far airprint is working and the ability to enable and disable IGMP snooping is available which is a plus for me.

WLAN doesnt seem to get ping spikes like previous

Now im just waiting to see if my WAN dies...

On the main screen for DDNS it has a yellow exclamation point and it says "Request Error. Please try again!". If I click it it brings me to WAN - DDNS with the it disabled but blinking on Yes to enable it. What is this???
