Hey folks. Quick question:

Does OpenVPN (on Merlin's build or otherwise) allow for host names to be resolved on the remote LAN? I have it up and running but no settings I change within the GUI seem to allow me to resolve those host names (which do resolve fine if connected locally). I would assume "Push LAN to client" and/or "Respond to DNS" and "Advertise DNS to clients" would be the ticket. Connecting via IP works great, but not so much by the hostname.

Thanks for any input! Awesome firmware, Merlin!

Name resolution works fine for me through my OpenVPN tunnel, I just did it. Just make sure you do specify the remote network's local domain.

So if I specify my N66U's domain as "lan", I should be able to access my home network machines remotely via OpenVPN if I do hostname.lan ? Doesn't work for me for some reason.

Make sure you have "Advertise DNS to clients" enabled on the OpenVPN server page, as well as Respond to DNS.

Try an "nslookup hostname.lan" to ensure the issue is really with name resolution and not something else.

I recommend using something like local.lan instead of just lan as your local domain.
