I have an RT-AC66R can I assume this new firmware will work with that model also?

Wonder what this really does ?
Optimize for XBOX option in Advanced Setting-->Wireless-->General. Enable this function can stabilize streaming speed.

If it only effects XBOX or other streaming boxes.

Chris

I don't see anything worth giving up the features Merlin adds, I'll wait for his next build. My wireless works just fine with the current drivers.

Merlin did they release the source code too? Or is Asus holding off on releasing it again?

I think most the time, it's a couple day's before asus releases the source code. So it may be monday or tuesday next week, before he has a chance to access it.

You can see if the source code is available yourself as well. Just choose "Other" as your OS in the downloads section.

Well looking on the asus site, the .270 source code was posted next day after the firmware was released. But oddly when the .260 firmware was released, the source code wasn't released for like two weeks. I have a good feeling Merlin should have access to the source code early next week. Then it's just a matter how long it will take him to put a build together, that he feel's comfortable enough to release.

Usually, once I have the sources it takes me about two days to merge them, and test the resulting builds. This time however it will probably take a bit longer, due to the numerous changes 354 brings. I need to take out my current WOL implementation (which is pretty poorly implemented as it was the very first thing I actually implemented, back when I wasn't very familiar with the code yet. I was going to redesign it when I found out that Asus were going to implement it in the official firmware.) to use Asus's own instead, and will probably move my Connection Tracking page inside the new Network Tools page from Asus (which shows router sessions, but not NAT sessions).

Usually Asus releases the GPL about a day after the firmware release itself. Might take longer this time due to the weekend however. I'll contact them about it if there's still nothing available by the middle of the week.

Very odd,
As soon as I installed this new software, my 5ghz signal strength to my bridge across my home dropped 10% instantly. Switched back to 266 firmware and gained the 10% back.

For some reason, Asus is cutting the power back on new firmware over 266.

Well I am kind of expecting maybe close to two week's, for you to have a .354 base build.

slow usb

only thing that really sucks is the lan transfer speed to a usb hdd... on 26b I was getting 115mbit now im getting 45 with the newest firmware... cant wait 4 Merlin to do his magic!!

What I find even more odd, when I was emailing Asus tech support back and forth and showed them that firmware 266 was much stronger signal at 80mw then the newer 270, and the 266's power was noticeable adjustable raising the MW, they removed 266 from the website.

I think they know it was much more powerful and maybe they removed it for FCC reasons?

This new firmware is horrible. All my games on my XBOX LIVE now lag constantly with this firmware If you play xbox, avoid this

even with the xbox feature turned on?
I really think his issue may be with his connection from his ISP. As I have used both the beta release's, and the official .354 release without a issue. I have 3 xbox's in house, one of them use the 5ghz network to connect, and black ops 2 is played on that system. Which mean's if there was a firmware related issue still with the xbox, I would know about it. As you know playing a FPS like call of duty is sensitive connection wise. Everyone has to remember to, that both the 2.4ghz, and 5ghz have the xbox option which you have to enable for each band depending on the one your connecting to using your xbox.
