I'm beginning to think maybe my recently bought AX86U wasn't as future proof as I thought.
Me too, how is it that arguably one of if not the most popular router isn't listed here with a beta. Beats me lol

What are you talking about? You realize this is a beta, and beta implies only a few select models are being worked on at a time, not every single one of them? This doesn't indicate in any way which actual model will receive the final version. I'm willing to bet anything that every single feature of this beta release that makes it into a final release will be fully supported by the RT-AX86U.

Oh? I didn't know it worked that way. I spoke out of worry that I'd bought something "out of scope".
But this coming from you as a seasoned developer is reassuring. Thanks mate.

Using this firmware on RT-AX92 and so far I've noticed that when Setting up Open NAT .. If I choose one of the games in the list and choose the device IP I get an error "Local IP or port range fields cannot be blank!"

However unlike previous versions the port range fields do not show up in this firmware.

Setting it up manually (aka not choosing a particular game) seems to work

@ASUSWRT_2020 Apart from my previous post on Open NAT...

my RT-AX92 crashed a few times overnight with out of memory according to the logs.

Switched power on and off this morning and ram usage is sitting at 94% .. don think it was this high on previous firmware

Still this if using pihole.

You can't use an internal LAN-based DNS server (like pi-hole) for your router's WAN DNS, which is your gateway out to the Internet. Point your RT-AX92U's WAN DNS at Google, Cloudflare, or any DNS server IP that is publicly accessible, otherwise you'll run into all sorts of problems. Configure your pi-hole DNS in the router's LAN/DHCP settings...your router will dish out your pi-hole's LAN IP as the DNS it will assign to all of your internal LAN devices set up for DHCP. That way everything inside your network benefits from pi-hole's DNS filtering. If you're using your pi-hole for DHCP, make sure DHCP is OFF on your router. Either way the router's WAN DNS must point to an external, public DNS IP address.

Hi, I have RT-AX86U, beta firmware from 27.10.2021 I can use for testing in Russia? If so, why don't you post it on a Russian-language resource https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net / .., is it only because it is not translated into Russian?
1. www.asuswrt-merlin.net - this is not a Russian-language resource.
2. ASUSWRT 386 RC3-2 public beta - this is not a firmware from Merlin. Although there is his work.
3. Who is stopping you from testing this firmware while being physically in Russia?
4. Maybe I should also write to Merlin about the fact that his website is not in Ukrainian either?

Thank you.

Kapet.

thank you for the answer, I agree with the amendment, I meant first of all that the Merlin firmware on the specified site is about 60% Russian-speaking, secondly, there are a lot of restrictions in Russia, and this is related to my question about the possibility of using this firmware from a resource I recently visited. I hope he answered. In all other respects, you are free to do whatever you want and I do not intend to make fun of the language of the resource - Russian or Ukrainian.

Hi,

I have the Asus RT-AX89X as my main router. Any chance you fine folks will release a Beta for this model so I can test it on my end?

Thank you for your consideration.

Jon

The WAN works, but the router thinks it's down. It's a bug. Two builds ago the router was saying WAN is up in the same config.
no, its not a bug. Asus introduced an optional dns server for client for eg. pihole.

Your connection have "disconnected" status because some services are not accessing the internet through pihole. Even RMerlin himself wrote about it

It uses a totally different chipset (Qualcomm) so you might have some waiting to do.

I tested this on the XT8 for a day. Noticed an increase in jitter and lower speedtest result connected to the last node (500mbps to 400mbps). This returned to normal after reverting to 45898.

Also on 45898 can see PHY rate on wireless backhaul (Transmit and Receive) but not on this beta.

Not sure it that was just for me.

I did a full factory reset without restoring any settings after installing the beta.
