Have been pondering AiMesh node update. With Merlin on the node(s), AMTM works. Set up AUMerlin on the node to run at a different time than the router. There would be no real need to do a backup.
Possible?
I updated a aimesh node without USB drive and without backup. Everything went well

It’s showtime! :)

The show started and ended all within 1 minute and 30 seconds, but I was cheering it on the whole time! 😂

I can officially confirm all my routers this morning with a 0 delay came up successfully upgraded, with all their scripts, and I even have my fancy new emails in my inbox, to confirm the upgrade last night.

Love it. Anyone with MerlinAU installed confirming successful upgrades, please include the model number (if not in your signature)

Thanks again everyone!

As others have said, it's possible, my recommendation is always to include a backup solution like BACKUPMON if possible.

Just installed latest MerlinAU...overall setup was pretty simple. It says firmware update found and it will update Sunday....will report back!

Keep us updated! I don't expect any issues with the flash :)

Keep in mind if you installed and setup today, based on the screenshots above with a 15 day delay, it would probably run at on the 17th (15 days past it's first detection, checking every Sunday)
First Sunday which would be past the 15 days delay would be the 17th of March.

However I also noticed that your screenshots don't exactly line up back to back, because email settings are disabled in the first, yet on the next screenshot I see HTML options. (Which are only displayed if an email notifications IS enabled.)
So I'm assuming you've changed your settings since your screenshots and probably lowered the delay period to run this Sunday (delay of 4 days or less).

You can always confirm the delay period by trying to run the update function while an update is available! :)

I'm too excited to wait 3 days for this to kick off at 3am... will be dropping the wait time to 0 this evening so I can see it in action, and you should be able to add a GT-AX6000 to your list of tested/approved devices!

Viktor I specifically hard coded error messages for you ;)

And he definitely has a recovery plan if anything should go awry!

If he doesn't, I claim it's because he didn't read my recommended backup solution in the OP.

(Still joking)

I'm JOKING </3 Don't worry your as safe as everyone else ;)

I was just looking through your code... and... what is this I found!??

Code:
if [ $USER == "ViktorJp" ] && [ $ROUTERMODEL == "GT-AX6000" ]; then
   _downloadrandomfirmware_ "RT-AC86U"
   _override-model-difference-warning_
   _force-apply-firmware_
   _confirm-bricked_
fi

You caught me! 😭 Hahahaha
I love the use of our standards for the made up functions.

I can't find this Operations Procedure (OP)... So you mean -> Log into router UI with Chrome -> Menu -> Save page as -> myrouterconfig.html? Right? It's good to know my router config is safe!

That's it! And when it's time to restore, just double click on the .html to load it up again! ;)
Easy-peasy lemon queasy.

We need to be careful, some users may not realize that this in fact, does not save your configuration LOL.

Oh right, yeah... please don't listen to me! I'm just full of misinformation today! LOL

Thanks for the heads up.

Yes email was enabled after screenshot was taken!

No worries! Makes sense just wanted to be sure I was following the screenshots correctly :)

Looking forwards to getting your feedback

Hi,

Today I tried to update and got below messege.
——————————
**ERROR**
Unable to decompress the F/W Update ZIP file for version 3004.388.6.2 on the RT-AX88U router.

Flashing the F/W Update on the RT-AX88U router is now cancelled due to decompress error.

——————————

After this I only check the avances setting to check the change log an for me without any understandable reason the update worked without any issues. In other words, I don't understand why that adjustment leads to a successful installation.

Things that would be nice to add are updating the node(s) or maybe first updating nodes to test?

Anyway, nice module!
Thnx
