New Around Here
Hi,

I recently upgraded to 380.63 firmware as well as wrote a custom ddns script up for my current dns provider (ddns-start script). Previously I used the asus provided dynamic dns, so my client1.ovpn file when I looked at it would say 'remote <hostname>', now it shows my ip address instead of hostname when I export. Is there any way to force the openvpn setting to use my dns name rather then my ip address as my isp changes my ip usually once a day?

Regards,

Just edit the ovpn file and change the remote entry with your hostname.

Some DDNS services don't have the necessary information within the router configuration to allow the router to export the full valid hostname. This is the case for instance for DNS-o-matic. In these cases, the IP is used.

Ah, I was hoping for a more elegant solution then editing each file. I thought that the fully quantified hostname used in the DDNS page on the settings would be used as the hostname for the export. I'll update manually as per your recommendation, thanks Merlin.
