If you plan on doing actual work on the DiskStation or use torrents, then the Atom unit (DS411+) is the fastest. This would be a fun unit to have! $300 for more processing power is cheap if you need/want it. If you want to go low power, the DS410 is a pretty good compromise of power /... -

I haven't heard anything about updates to the DS410, have you any info on the DS411? Synology just updated (most of) their NAS units which use the 16bit Marvel Kirwood processors. I wonder.. will they will start on their 64bit Power PC processors units next (DS410, DS210+, DS110+) or update... -

yeah you're right. Acutally the DS211 looks like a great NAS, with or without esata. 104MB/sec reading almost max's out the GigE port and it only consumes 10.8W idle. Should be very fast for apps at 1.6GHz with 256MB RAM. :cool: -

Good question about the processor on the DS211,DS111. Since the memory is listed as 16bit DDR1066, and the Write speed is 53MB/Sec, the processor would most likely be a speed bump of the existing 16bit Marvel 88F6281 Kirkwood CPU. Marvel has a faster version of the Kirkwood SoC, 88F6282... -
