Help with unbricking RT-AC66u from serial

So i got mostly back. i manually erased the nvram, then did a 'strings' on the cfe binary, took all the fields, changed the mac address approp, and did an nvram set on each. So this got my cfe back and willing to talk tftp. i reflashed the flash1.trx. i boot, and it comes up, but i'm missing...

Help with unbricking RT-AC66u from serial

I'm not sure what happened, but as part of 380.57 upgrade my RT-AC66u is semi-bricked. I have serial access, but it will not go to recovery. The reason is the CFE won't bring up the interface: CFE> ifconfig Network interface has not been configured *** command status = 0 CFE> ifconfig...

on power loss normally end @ CFE

so its nothing to do w/ the duration of power outage. i can turn the switch off, wait, and on... into the cfe. or i can press 'reboot' in the web interface, into the cfe. I have CFE 1.0.1.1 (and now on 3.0.0.4.374.36_beta1). Interestingly, when it comes up in the CFE, it retains the IP from...

    The Winter Knight is here

The new dropbear still has the problem with the static path (which doesn't include /opt/bin) openwrt put in some patch for this here, but they didn't add /opt. Debian also made some changes so dropbear would read /etc/login.defs it would be nice, given how static this environment is, to...

on power loss normally end @ CFE

its on a UPS. Every single time i use the power switch, it will come back up in CFE. is there a CFE update for the AC66u? is there something corrupt in the nvram that it gacks on? note that when i reflash the exact same firmware, it boots and comes up w/ all parameters remembered. this...

on power loss normally end @ CFE

If i hit the power switch my RT-AC66U will normally 'do the right thing' and then come back. Same with the 'reboot' button in the web environment (or reboot in ssh). If my power blips for a second or so, i will very invariably find the router comes back up in CFE mode (the browser connects to...

    security issue w/ AiCloud (?)

if i open a browser to https://<myip>/<smbhost> if immediately sees the files there on 'smbhost', w/o logging in if I have the Cloud Disk feature enabled. (smbhost is the netbt name of an internal samba server). I see "JerryLin: namequery.c-->name_resolve_bcast: Attempting broadcast lookup...

ipv6 recipe for asuswrt-merlin via hurricane electric

These are the ipv6 nameservers of hurricane electric (first one), and google (2nd two). you can use any public ipv6 nameserver. MTU is 'maximum transmission unit', its the size of the largest packet allowable on a link. Ethernet is normally 1500. Because there is overhead on the tunnel, I...

ipv6 recipe for asuswrt-merlin via hurricane electric

you are likely failing the AAAA record test. If you put in 8.8.8.8 for your ipv4 dns server, you'll get 10/10 i think. but it does mean you have connectivity. congrats.

ipv6 recipe for asuswrt-merlin via hurricane electric

if you look on the tunnelbroker.net website after you login, you can click on the link for your tunnel. http://tunnelbroker.net/tunnel_detail.php?tid=???? This will show the current IPv4 address registered. If that is not correct, try until it is :) or you can manually set it.

how can i make a hole in guest isolation on asuswrt-merlin on ac66u?

ah, i see... when "Access Intranet" is disabled, these 2 *ebtables* rules come into being: -i wl0.1 -o ! eth0 -j DROP -i ! eth0 -o wl0.1 -j DROP so if i add one that allows my port in question as an override i should be good to go.

how can i make a hole in guest isolation on asuswrt-merlin on ac66u?

Ah, i should have mentioned. i don't want the guests to access the intranet. I'd rather have the printer in the intranet, but can't make that work. so i'd like the intranet to access guests (like it does the internet), guests to access the internet, but guests to not access the intranet. I...

ipv6 recipe for asuswrt-merlin via hurricane electric

Well, you've got a few options... ultimately its running this script on their end: http://ipv4.tunnelbroker.net/ipv4_end.php 1. You've got ipv6 now, and those IP are all public and don't change, why bother w/ DDNS? :) 2. Run a second DDNS either on the router (entware, optware), or on a...

how can i make a hole in guest isolation on asuswrt-merlin on ac66u?

i have this printer wifi widget (TP-LINK TL-WPS5510U) that doesn't support WPA2 AES (only TKIP). And the No problem, i'll just put it on the guest network, that's Open anyway. However, now i cannot print from the non guest hosts, the isolation is both ways (e.g. the guest network cannot be...
