[Preview] 380.57 alpha test builds for all models

Although he did implement it in build 378.53, which I thought was quite a nice feature to have.

[Q] Way to create a network that doesn't use VPN?

I was once looking for the same setup as you. It sure would be nice to have an option in the GUI to setup a DHCP scope for the Guest network, because this would make the policy vpn routing much easier. In the end I brought a cheap refurb router ($15) that acts as my vpn network and I use the...

    Asuswrt-Merlin Feature Suggestions

I'd love to see the ability of being able to assign a specific DHCP scope to the Guest Networks. I know you can set scopes on the interfaces using jffs scripts, but to be honest, I always have problems with it. :-) It's probably my lack of knowledge that prevents it from working, but this is a...

    Slow OpenVPN on AC87r

Just to update on this. I have Charter Internet and I finally tested the OpenVPN client on a device (phone) and I get slow 3-4 Mbps speeds, so I suspect they throttle the OpenVPN connections, which is too bad.

    Slow OpenVPN on AC87r

I spoke too soon on my mtu settings adjustment. I went back down to 3-4Mbps connection speeds on the VPN. I also had QOS enabled and turned it off. This improved my connection speed to 5.5Mbps, but that isn't a significant increase and I can't confirm that it will stay like that, because my...

    Slow OpenVPN on AC87r

Thank you everyone for your responses. Merlin, adding these settings to the custom config page in the openvpn page allowed me to get 12.5Mbps speed. A significant improvement! tun-mtu 1500 mssfix 1400 I'll play with these settings some more and try and get some more Bandwidth! Thank you All!

    Slow OpenVPN on AC87r

I tried the 2 UK server options that I am presented with, but both offer the same speeds. I tried a US server too, and this also offers no speed increase. Yes perhaps my ISP is throttling the connection. I never contemplated this possibility. I haven't tried the openvpn client on my desktop...

    Slow OpenVPN on AC87r

I have an AC87R router with the latest build and I have a subscription to PIA for OpenVPN. I am using the connection via my router, but I am achieving speed of 2-3Mbps, sometimes less than a 1MB! My cable internet providers offers me 60Mbps down and 4Mbps up, which I achieve when using the...

378.53 - Directing all subnet traffic to OpenVPN

Merlin, thank you for your assistance. The destination ip of 0.0.0.0 was what I needed!

378.53 - Directing all subnet traffic to OpenVPN

Thanks RMerlin. What would the destination address be then, keeping in mind I want all IP addresses in the 192.168.2.0 scope to use the VPN? Would it just be 192.168.2.0, or can I only specify specific addresses individually? i.e. Source - 192.168.1.2 Destination - 192.168.2.2, Source -...

378.53 - Directing all subnet traffic to OpenVPN

I just installed the new firmware and love the new features. Thanks. I have a question about setting up the OpenVPN rule to force traffic on a specific subnet to use the VPN for internet traffic. I tried some time ago to get the Guest network setup on my Asus AC87R to receive a different ip...

    2 SSID - 1 VPN and 1 ISP

So I am trying to achieve the ability to have 1 SSID for a VPN and 1 SSID for Internet using just my ISP. One of the SSID's will be from the Guest network on the 5Ghz band. wl1.1. I feel like I have tried every script without success and I cannot understand why,or what I am doing wrong...

SSID for VPN and 1 for ISP

Ah geez what an idiot I am :-) I'm a little embarrassed that I just didn't get what you were asking but now I see it was so clear! Ok, so I added the dhcp scope to the dnsmasq.conf.add file and i could see that it transferred to the /etc/dnsmasq.conf file. I manually ran the other commands...

SSID for VPN and 1 for ISP

Thanks Martineau. I added the DHCP pool code to the dnsmasq.conf.add file, I wasn't too sure how to do the 2nd part, so I added that below in the same. When I added that 2nd part, things didn't go to well and I couldn't access any Internet :-). I removed it and just kept the dhcp pool...

SSID for VPN and 1 for ISP

So I am wondering if part of the issue is that my client devices that connect to my guest network ssid never get an IP address from the scope 192.168.1.200 - 192.168.1.254. They always get an IP address from the 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254 range. Any idea what I can do to resolve that and then...
