    Need a networking guru please

Hi, I don’t know if you are running Merlin’s firmware but you can create a new sub interface on the wan port and access works from the lan, I do this on my setup. If you do run Merlin’s firmware I can send you the setup details I use. Getting Modem Stats...

    Getting Modem Stats

My wan-start script looks like this: #!/bin/sh Ifconfig eth0:0 192.168.2.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 Just make sure you make the script executable.

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

Hi, I just noticed when I restart the qos service via script the iptables configuration disappears, does anyone else see this happening? The command I am using to check is: iptables --table mangle --list To overcome the issue I need to reapply the iptables commands after the qos service is...

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

I updated the script but some advice greatly appreciated. I regularly update the bandwidth figures via an external pi that runs a scripted speedtest, I have set the appropriate marks and assigned the up and down from the device flowid 1:2 in the script. To get the new figures to then be...

    [Advice Needed] New ASUS Router

Remember they can also mesh where wiring is not available but as you said it depends on your requirements and if you can be bothered in breaking out some of the service an all in one router does. If you run a setup like ubiquiti for APs the qos issue will be fixed? This will be because all...

    [Advice Needed] New ASUS Router

I place mine on top of two bookcases face up, one upstairs and the other downstairs. They can also be run over powerline adapters if you can’t run wires or they can mesh together.

    [Advice Needed] New ASUS Router

Honestly, the ubiquiti APs are fantastic and are regularly updated. They also offer meshing and roaming out of the box. Separating out the WiFi also means when the router reboots internal services should not be affected I.e. they stay connected to WiFi.

    [Advice Needed] New ASUS Router

I would stick with your current router and deploy dedicated Ubiquiti APs, you can then place the APs where you need coverage.

Best Merlin supported router for bussness?

I can highly recommend the ubiquiti kit also. You should also check out Cisco Meraki, they offer great kit and cloud management, this option is very flexible with little to build locally to get it operational. Thanks

Opinions on Asus Firewall is it good Enough?

I highly recommend Cisco Meraki and ubiquiti kit, Meraki for cloud controlled WiFi or the ubiquiti for on-premise management. Both are regularly updated but really depends on how much control and security you deem applicable for your use case. If you are confident you could cope if the home...

Opinions on Asus Firewall is it good Enough?

Hi, Don’t see any issue with the ASUS firewall but if your running a business setup you may be better to look at enterprise kit e.g. cisco Meraki or Ubiquiti where you can setup guest access via captive portal and they have integrated firewall options. Both are relatively easy to use and...

    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.4 is now available

Hi, I have started to use ubiquiti access points for WiFi coverage in my house and have disabled the WiFi on my router, one issue I am experiencing is the cpu is stuck permanently at 50% active (showing as 100% on one core in the ui). The top command shows the process is /usr/sbin/acsd. The...
