    NETGEAR WNDR3700 Reviewed

Thanks Tim. So it sounds like it is just an enabling issue on the client end. So long as I have two clients both enabled for jumbo frames and both are connected to the same switch, the switch will allow the pass through from Client A to Client B, regardless of any configuration, correct?

    NETGEAR WNDR3700 Reviewed

jumbo frames Tim, You noted in the review that the Netgear does not doesn't spec jumbo frame support for the 3700, although you were successful in passing 9k jumbo frames through in your testing. Since Jumbo Frames are not officially supported, I assume there is no way to enable/disable...

Which Filesystem: EXT3 vs. XFS vs. ZFS?

Thanks for the replies everyone. I really appreciate everybody's help here. Great site for learning. For better or worse, I wound up going with EXT3. I am not sure if I ultimately had a great reason for doing so vs. the other options other than it seemed like a good overall filesystem...

Which Filesystem: EXT3 vs. XFS vs. ZFS?

Also, on a separate topic, the NAS also supports Link Aggregation. Any thoughts on whether I would gain any significant benefits from utilizing this feature? Thanks again.

Which Filesystem: EXT3 vs. XFS vs. ZFS?

I just purchased a Thecus N5500 NAS which I will be loading with 5 1.5TB Seagate HD's. Before I build the filesystem, I would appreciate any thoughts/guidance on which is the "best" type to use. The NAS supports Ext3, XFS, and ZFS. Any insights into the pro's/con's of each, what people have...

I am very interested in this NAS as well. Thinking about getting 2 of them and using the first in JBOD with the second connected to the first for back-up.

    Buying Advice - 5/5 Bay NAS $600-$800

Buying Advice - 4/5 Bay NAS $600-$800 I am looking to purchase my first NAS. It will be used entirely for home use, primarily for data back-up and media streaming. I have 4 TB (and growing) of music, home movies, pictures, and several hundred backed-up DVD's that I want to be able to...

    Thecus N4100PRO

Hi, I am also curious if anyone has attempted to upgrade the RAM? Also, is there a limit on the size of drive this unit can handle (i.e. if a 2 or 3 TB came to market in the future, could the unit work with it? Thanks

    NAS NTFS Read/Write Support

Thanks for the quick reply. Is there anyway to convert from NTFS to EXT2 w/o erasing the contents of the drive? I have 6TB worth of drives - would hate to have to move the data off, format, and then bring it back. Thanks again.

    NAS NTFS Read/Write Support

Can anyone please recommend a NAS that has both Read & WRITE support for external hard drives attached via USB (or eSata)? I have several 1TB WD My Books that I would like to be able to add to the NAS for additional storage. It seems virtually every NAS I have come across is read only. I...
