State of the project (August 2016)

UG! I just bought my AC3200 too after selling my AC87U. I keep buying the wrong router. Merlin, do you have any suggestions for ASUS router models to use? Thanks!

Traffic Analyzer / Monitor Color Mismatch

Bump...anyone else seeing this or is it just me?

Traffic Analyzer / Monitor Color Mismatch

Is it just me or has anyone else seen the blue and orange colors representing direction of data flow swap when you move from Realtime to Last 24 hours when you're on the Ethernet (WAN) tab? I'm doing this from the Traffic Analyzer section inside of the Traffic Monitor tab on the Ethernet (WAN)...

    RT-AC87R 5G is disabled

Thanks @RMerlin! I just saw @baos reply and was about to mention that I think he meant to call the \ an escape which would make perfect sense, especially after reading your reply talking about passing a parameter via a shell command. If these were vulnerable to some buffer overflow that...

Network Map - Client Section - Strange Behavior

@howardmoon I've seen the same behavior. No biggie for me either really. I was mainly trying to get a grasp on things in my first week working with this :)

    RT-AC87R 5G is disabled

The only time I saw this is when I used symbols in my WPA2 password and I saw the same thing for every version I ran...even stock. I then read the docs and while it doesn't state that I cannot, it also doesn't say that I can. The funny thing is I used this same password on my Airport Extreme...

    OpenSSL update coming this Friday

This is a common practice for vendors. Many enterprise vendors are running very old versions of OpenSSL for various reasons. Some of which are stability and no requirement for additional features...which often leads to less stability and more room for vulnerability. Newest != Most Stable/Most...

Which "wired" router has the best VPN throughput?

You've just got to Google a bit. I did a ton of it for a couple weeks when looking for comparisons. It's out there. Here's a quick search I did for "rt-ac87u comparison" which gave me this http://www.7tutorials.com/reviewing-asus-rt-ac87u-wifi-router-batman-would-use which I think is...

Network Map - Client Section - Strange Behavior

Maybe I'm not following your response clearly, but for the record, I had modified 19 of the 20 "descriptions" under the networkmap --> client page and none of them show up in the LAN --> DHCP page as DHCP reservations. I do have two reservations there, but that isn't for any of the hosts I...

    Firewall logging question.

That looks like two different packets with two different source ports and sequence numbers. It isn't logging a duplicate. It's logging what it is seeing twice...at least from what I can tell by what you provided.

Network Map - Client Section - Strange Behavior

Got it, thanks. Are there any plans on the roadmap for being able to tie a common name to a MAC so that it doesn't require a DHCP reservation? I'm not at risk of hitting the 128 limit, just curious more than anything else. It just helps me recognize devices without an internal DNS server to...

Network Map - Client Section - Strange Behavior

First of all, thank you for the quick response! I confirmed that I do not have an entry in the LAN-> DHCP page that is causing a conflict. Maybe something got corrupted as my naming didn't "only" contain alphanumerics for all of my other entries in the client list. The one is question I've...

Network Map - Client Section - Strange Behavior

I'm new to Asuswrt-Merlin having just bought my RT-AC87R yesterday and getting it installed. I did a lot of research and immediately loaded Asuswrt-Merlin and did a full default and build from scratch. First thing I want to say is THANK YOU for making this...it is AWESOME...Everything is...
