Question & suggestions for mini-PCI wifi card

Thanks for the reply mag905. I'm not sure what AC router I'll go with yet, but I did find out that the antenna wires currently in my ultrabook will work with the 7260 and that the BIOS whitelist won't be an issue for such an upgrade to occur. I'll likely go with the AC7260 wifi card when it's...

Question & suggestions for mini-PCI wifi card

I own a 2013 Dell XPS ultrabook that came with an Intel Centrino N6230 wifi card. Since the board came with two antennas, will those work with the two antenna AC wifi cards? Or are those antennas graded specifically for N only? Assuming I can upgrade to an AC wifi card, what card would you...

Packet received with own address as source address: Is it on the Wi-Fi adapters?

I've been getting this same message the OP is referring to on my ASUS RT-N66U since forever. Post #8 from John prompted me to try something different on my Dell laptop with an Intel Centrino N-6230 adapter. In the Properties--Configure--Advanced section of my adapter, I changed Mixed Mode...

CPU @ 100% with USB flash drive attached

I decided to restore the router to factory settings and then re-flashed the firmware. This appears to have solved it.

CPU @ 100% with USB flash drive attached

Just bought a new 32GB Kingston USB flash drive today and I noticed when I plugged it into my RT-N66U with the latest 1071 stock firmware that the CPU gauge of the router is locked @ 100%. This behavior occurs when the drive is formatted FAT32 or EXT2. Is this normal behavior? I've never owned a...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 is out

Did you reset the router to default AFTER upgrading to Merlin's firmware? According to your post, you said you reset the router BEFORE applying the upgrade. It's recommended to reset the router AFTER the upgrade and go from there.

    RT-N66U

You bring up a good point. I remember reading this recently and thinking I need to figure out how to lock this thing down properly. http://arstechnica.com/security/2014/02/dear-asus-router-user-youve-been-pwned-thanks-to-easily-exploited-flaw/ I'll be picking the router up tonight, so...

    RT-N66U

Appreciate your input, Dr. Teeth. Seeing that I have no experience with using alternative firmware, is it considered a good rule of thumb to always reset the router to default after updating to new or reverting to old firmware? Additionally, if I were to save a backup config file of router...

    RT-N66U

Thanks CooCooCachoo. I'll take this under advisement. I might just try both and see for myself. It's nice having options. ;)

    RT-N66U

My reliable 10 yr. old Belkin G Plus MIMO router bit the dust the other night due to lightning damage along with my Motorola cable modem. My neighbor is selling me his N66U to tide me over while I wait for my insurance claim refund. He bought it brand new in Dec. 2011 but it's in pristine...

    Happy with my EA6900

Glad to see you found a router you like. I've decided to hold off on my search at the moment. The new fiber install takes place in August, so I'll wait until then and hope that some of the higher end AC models drop in price a bit by then? I'll definitely keep this particular Linksys model in...
