AC68U super slow GUI on wifi

A lightning storm burned the WAN port on my AC68U. I used the Dual WAN to use LAN1 as WAN. I noticed, however, that recently the web gui is virtually unusable over wifi. The login page loads instantaneously, but putting the credentials ends up in a white page with the browser "Transferring data...

    OpenVPN port troubles AC68

Well, afterall it turned out to be the university firewall. They block any non-standard port above 1024. What UDP port below 1024 would you suggest I use?

    OpenVPN port troubles AC68

Hi, I had a perfectly working OpenVPN setup on tun, a custom udp port and Asus dyndns on my AC68. Today suddenly clients failed to connect. The only time I am able to connect is with the default 1194 udp port which I want to avoid because of spammers. I experimented with numerous other ports but...

    Warranty valid EU-wide? Dispute

Here is what Asus told me over the phone: the first two years of the warranty is always covered by the retailer only the third year of the warranty is directly provided by Asus in all these cases they never repair the router, but exchange it for a new one the warranty is only for the country of...

    Warranty valid EU-wide? Dispute

No, and that's amazing. The Amazon.it guys wanted me to over the phone, but the "email us in English" guys in Ireland had no questions and straight up ordered a new one. This is not my first time when the email/call "in English" yields much more generous terms than the local branch over the...

    Warranty valid EU-wide? Dispute

Thank you both! I called Amazon.it and they explained that every consumer product sold on Amazon is covered by a standard "legal warranty" of 2 years. However, Asus offers "commercial warranty" for 3 years which may have whatever conditions they decide. Judging from comments in Amazon.co.uk...

    Warranty valid EU-wide? Dispute

Hi all, In December 2017 I bought a RT-AC68U from Amazon Italy. I brought it to Bulgaria and yesterday it stopped working (no lights, no signal, tried holding the WPS button - nothing). The router is covered by a 3-year warranty, but the local Asus affiliated repair shops declined me the service...

[SOLVED] I bought R7000 and ac68u. Which to return?

OK, I tried a different PC and got rock-solid 60MB/s with the Interference reduction turned off, which is good enough for me. Is there any tangible negative effect on the 2.4Ghz network if I leave the USB 3 cap off? I know the theory, but I was wondering whether there's any experimental...

[SOLVED] I bought R7000 and ac68u. Which to return?

I used wired gigabit and what I meant was that I get 25MB/s with the Interference reduction turned off up from 20MB/s when enabled. Having the wireless 2.4GHz radio on or off made no difference. I'll update the firmware, make some tests and report back. Thanks

[SOLVED] I bought R7000 and ac68u. Which to return?

That would be excellent. I am getting 20MB/s reads on usb 3.0 with "usb 3.0 optimization" and 25MB/s without. It might be the hdd, but I doubt it.

[SOLVED] I bought R7000 and ac68u. Which to return?

OK, these are actually very important points and overweight any hair-splitting of performance between the two. I will keep the ac68u. Is there any known way to boost its usb 3.0 performance? Through insulating the hard drive cord, positioning in some way, etc. It's the E1 revision.

[SOLVED] I bought R7000 and ac68u. Which to return?

Thanks for chiming in both. I'd prefer to take it one step at a time - this will be my first exploration of custom firmwares on routers, so I wouldn't start with dd-wrt. When you say it's better built, does it have anything to do with its range? I could image that it's illegal in some...

[SOLVED] I bought R7000 and ac68u. Which to return?

Hi everyone, I just bought the Netgear R7000 (111 euro) and Asus AC68U (114 euro), but eventually will return one of them. I know they are identical when it comes to SoC and I plan to use Merlin on both. Can you provide some reasons for keeping one over the other? What ASUS/Netgear specific...
