Asus RT-AC56U FW 3.0.0.4.374.38_2 - 'TX Power' setting seems to be broken

I personally think that it was a mistake on Asus's part to make it a free numerical input. It really should have been some kind of drop-down list of available power levels, ones that actually work! I have almost given up on being able to adjust the power output, as it really does not ever seem...

    TCP/IP Settings - Timings

Hi Everyone, I was just going through Merlin's latest and greatest firmware on my RT-N66U, and was wondering about the timings that are listed under Tools>Other Settings>TCP/IP Settings. What I would like to know is can these settings be adjusted for better performance/security? Also...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 374.41 is out

Are you sure you have the country code correct??? ;)

    Asuswrt-Merlin 374.41 is out

Fantastic post Dr! I feel exactly the same as you, this is a very frustrating issue, and one that could be so easy to fix. What I don't understand is ASUS's position on locale setting, THEY should be the one adding it to the UI, not Merlin. I simply cannot see the logic surrounding this...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 374.39 is out

I think the best way forward, would to allow a custom input for DNS server settings, if that's possible?

What ports to forward for Synology

Hi, you don't need to do any typing... The NAS will setup all the rules for you, right from the DSM screen. Just give the wizard your router username and password, it will then automatically setup port forwarding rules depending which DSM features you are actually using. Hope this helps.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.374.34 is out

Hi Merlin, I just wanted to thank you for adding the MTU values to the WAN page! Thanks!

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.374.33 is out

Yeah, I always do a full reset whenever I update firmware, ASUS's or your own, just to be safe. I have seen this a few times in the past, but never really thought to mention it, incase its my doing somehow. It seems to happen when you change the WiFi channel on the 2.4GHz band, and if you...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.374.33 is out

Just wanted to thank Merlin and all the testers for this fine firmware release! I use an RT-N66U, and want to post one bug, one other thing I have found, plus a request... First, the bug... This one has been around for as long as I have had the RT-N66U, so not a Merlin thing! If you go in to...

[HELP] Transmit power restriction for RT-N66U

WTF??? You are personally attacking me just because I get frustrated when I'm told I'm wrong for wanting to use 150mW on my router when the max is 100mW... Yeah, I'm an evil person. P.S, I don't have any neighbours, just a large house, bought buy evil means...

[HELP] Transmit power restriction for RT-N66U

Each antenna has it's own power amplifier, so you should really use all of them connected. Running with no antennas, or only one or two connected will reduce the amount of radiated power, however the router may well switch from using one of the unconnected radios, to one that has an antenna...

[HELP] Transmit power restriction for RT-N66U

I think that the wireless drivers in the router can only accept certain values, and has a number of preset values set. So if you type in 5mW, the driver will set the lowest value it can, which I think is 50mW. It's one of the reasons it has been requested to have a real GUI for this type of...

[HELP] Transmit power restriction for RT-N66U

For the record, we're talking about the freedom to alter settings in a WiFi router, not murdering or raping. I like to think that I feel differently about those subjects than I do about upping the power in my router. ;)

[HELP] Transmit power restriction for RT-N66U

Jeez, I get sick to death of this argument, it just keeps coming back everytime some poor guy advocates or wants to alter the power setting, most other people here continue that statement by saying that we should be happy with the default settings, and not even try to adjust them ourselves, like...

[HELP] Transmit power restriction for RT-N66U

But the limit in the UK is 500mW. This router won't go over 100mW. And exactly who will be knocking down my door if I up the power to 501mW? (if it was possible)
