When is the new Merlin firmware going to release?

Honestly code developers hate when people try to rush them to release a new firmware. The answer above is a true statement. That said John has just released ver-10 of the Merlin fork and it works very well. In fact better then any Asus or Merlin build if you dont need all the eye candy in the GUI. I mean after all who keeps logging into there router everyday anyway. I like a firmware that is solid and just works the newer versions are not that and if John ever decides to stop developing firmware i think i will move on to a different vendor. Good Luck YMMV !!

When is the new Merlin firmware going to release?

Proposals, new functions, bugs or what are you up to with your question?

Every new release is "ready when it's ready" !!

All kidding aside.. I get why folks are anxious for a beta..... Kinda expected to see a beta release for the 68 around now...

Just a little more patience, I guess... Merlin does do this in his spare time... =)

Well the 87U got a update last Wednesday and everyone is saying that the update is a big improvement. Also i really love the Merlin firmware that is why i don't want to go back to stock firmware.

Yup i was expecting a beta by now as well

Nice, very helpful
It depends on Asus releases. There no set time on releases but if you want a guess I'll say a month and maybe add 2weeks for beta testing before final release. During this past 3weeks Asus released 2 source codes and Merlin is working on them. Asus GPL 378_4608 isn't the lastest. Asus will have another one soon(378_4825).

Are we there yet? :p

I always put my latest development code on Github, so anyone can compile it themselves if they want it "now".

I still have 2-3 things on my list of things to do + test, so I have no ETA on an official release. "When it's ready" is actually an accurate answer, as I don't work based on a time table but based on when I feel a firmware is ready for release.

it was a big improvement to issues that were specific to the RT-AC87U.

Thank you for clearing things up. Its much better to hear the news from the actual person that is making the firmware :)
