My expierience with the new FW on my RT-AC56U 378.51_dpi....

Wireless and all the basic stuff is working fine and the Modem Connects (ppp only). So the basic is fine, but I had some problems to get the owncloud working. I have a public IP (also Domain to this IP). Portforward was working fine, and I could externally access the Cloud without any issues but couldn't connect internally. OwnCloud is running on a suse box, connected to the router. So when I was connected to the router with my laptop, it couldn't open the OwnCloud page. But when I used the internet from my phone and connected it worked fine (external to Pub IP). So I changed the NAT Loopback from Merlin to Asus and than it started to work also from the wireless (intern). Not sure what is the differences with them, but looks like the Merlin NAT gives some trouble here in my case. Can someone tell me what are the differences ?

The second I saw is the NFS I couldn't get to work as I wasn't able to mount anything on my Server Box.

from the log I can see:
Mar 25 20:31:25 ACA80101 kernel: nfsd: last server has exited, flushing export cache
Mar 25 20:31:26 ACA80101 kernel: gro enabled with interval 2
Mar 25 20:32:21 ACA80101 kernel: svc: failed to register nfsdv2 RPC service (errno 111).
Mar 25 20:32:21 ACA80101 kernel: nfsd: last server has exited, flushing export cache
Mar 25 20:32:21 ACA80101 kernel: svc: failed to register nfsdv2 RPC service (errno 111).
Mar 25 20:32:21 ACA80101 kernel: nfsd: last server has exited, flushing export cache
Mar 25 20:32:21 ACA80101 kernel: nfsd: last server has exited, flushing export cache
Mar 25 20:33:16 ACA80101 kernel: gro disabled
Mar 25 20:33:17 ACA80101 kernel: gro enabled with interval 2
Mar 25 20:33:18 ACA80101 kernel: svc: failed to register lockdv1 RPC service (errno 97).
Mar 25 20:33:48 ACA80101 kernel: svc: 172.168.1.99, port=977: unknown version (4 for prog 100003, nfsd)
Mar 25 20:33:57 ACA80101 kernel: device eth0 entered promiscuous mode
Mar 25 20:33:57 ACA80101 kernel: br0: topology change detected, propagating

Not sure why but I got this resolved after I disabled all this Trend Micro QoS, Malware etc. After this the service gets started fine and I can mount the NFS on mu Suse box.
What is also strange is:
Mar 25 18:00:27 ACA80101 portmap[6065]: cannot bind tcp: Address already in use
Mar 25 18:01:34 ACA80101 nfsd[6070]: nfssvc: Address already in use

Port conflict ?

From whichever was the previous one (I think I posted the GPL reference previously in this thread).

Version number doesn't mean anything. If Asus tweaks the power tables, the driver version will still remain the same.
Oh OK didn't realize they would keep same ver #. But I did notice the latest stock does have a different date wl0: Dec 2 2014 16:35:49 version 6.30.163.2002 (r382208) verses .51 shows wl0: Oct 17 2014 15:41:28 version 6.30.163.2002 (r382208). Seems I recall maybe .50 had the December date attached . Anyway thanks for the response.

Hi,

First of all thanks to the developers of this firmware. Finally the parental controls work properly and I can control the kids access!!!

I've been using 378.51 on my 6 month old AC68U for about a month and it's all been stable, however twice, once five days ago and this morning the whole network stops. By that I mean all internet access on wireless is lose and all wired access is lost. The wireless devices are still connected to wifi but you can't connect to anything and on my hardwired devices it reports that there is no internet access, however you can't access anything even other devices on the net. The router is uncontactable (even ping) and you have to reboot it.

After reboot it's all back to normal. The system log last entry is about 9 hours before the current outage.
Mar 27 21:52:10 dnsmasq-dhcp[600]: DHCPREQUEST(br0) 192.168.1.44 b8:17:c2:c3:ee:91
Mar 27 21:52:10 dnsmasq-dhcp[600]: DHCPACK(br0) 192.168.1.44 b8:17:c2:c3:ee:91 Apple-TV-Bed-1

I'm a bit baffled, but I have to assume it's the current firmware losing the gateway or something like that? It's so random and days apart, after being stable for ages.

Is there extra logging I can turn on?
Has anyone else seen the issue?

Any pointers on how I can resolve, or troubleshoot appreciated. I really don't want to go back to stock firmware.

Thanks

Byron

I'm sill having stability issues with my RT-AC87U where the WAN connection in particular seems to get dropped (+ some issues with wireless not being responsive). I changed to 378.51_newqtn and it has been better but I've lost connection 3 times already today. Here is one complete log set from a manual restart to when it then rebooted on it's own this time, incase there is anything obvious.

So I've narrowed down my issue. When I reboot my 87R, as soon as Wi-Fi connects, my default browser opens to 192.168.1.1
Any website I enter takes me to 192.168.1.1, which sucks.

In the past I've had to go through the Quick Internet Setup wizard to get back online, but today I discovered toggling WAN > WAN DNS Setting > Connect to DNS Server automatically.

Turn it off (so it connects to my ISP), then turning it on to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 gets my internet back.

Is there a way to check why I need to do this? Any way to check my DNS settings? I shouldn't have to toggle this on and off after I reboot my router, should I?

I'm still having this issue as well. Advertisement of DLNA devices seems to be broken....
AC68U latest Merlin firmware - does it on .50 as well.
So - no answers for this issue? I have seen others with similar issues but no real fix.
Do I have to go back a couple of releases ?

Hi everybody,

Nice to be on the nerdy corner of the internet! :p

I'm using RT_AC66U with Dual-Wan loadbalancing configuration running .51 firmware. I was wondering how I can redirect certain games/programs to only use one or the other Wan connections under "Routing rules"?

I get kicked by PunkBuster for "packet flow" when I play games like Battlefield using dual Wan so I'm assuming I need to create a rule. I guess the real question is how do i find the "Source ip" (screenshot below) of a given game/program? I can just leave "Destination ip" blanc and it will redirect all traffic right?

Thanks in advance.

Anyone?

Hi,

I have now been running RMerlin's firmware 378.51_newqtn on my RT_AC87U for more than 14 days. ( Right now 7 days 10 hours uptime)
Have anybody seen this "unknown" on LAN port 1 on the router. I only use ports 3 and 4.

Yes, I have the same on my RT-AC87U.
Probably expected behaviour, I think it has something to do with router chips not being able to sense the port LAN1 properly.

Ports 2-4 are on the Broadcom BCM4709. Port 1 is on an Realtek PHY attached to the Quantenna SOC. I suspect the S/W just can't query the MAC address on port 1. Other than unknown showing up in the GUI, is doesn't seem to have any adverse affect.

TM-AC1900 (RT-AC68U -- Replaced bootloader with 1.0.2.0, then flashed 378.50, reset to factory defaults and updated to 378.51. Really like this upgrade (donation on the way). Only issue so far is that all clients loose 5G connectivity when SSID is turned off. No issue with 2.5G.

Update: Not sure if this issue was provoked by CFE downgrade or something else. Still exists when HW returned to stock CFE and FW. I'll chalk it up to a hardware failure and order a replacement.

Hi :)!

I have a RT-AC66U and the latest Firmware 378.51 installed, after flashing from my previous version (RT-AC66U_3.0.0.4_376.49_2) is did a factory reset through the WEB-GUI.

Now i have the problem that the Web-Gui wont load after a while. I must power cycle the device to get access to the Web Interface.
Ping works, SSH works, everything works but only the WebInterface wont response any more :(

Some hours ago, i wanted to chance some settings in my router, but i cant go into the web interface because its not loading. There is no Error Page like 404 or so, the Browser still says "connecting.... connecting....". After a Power cycle the Web GUI works again, i did my changes and used the logout button. And again the WebGUI does not load anymore :(:(.

Is this a Bug in the new Version? Need some Help :(

Thanks in Advance!

Sorry, if my question is obvious for some others.
I tried to find the answer on the forum, but no luck...

I have an RT-N66U Router.
My previous FW was 3.0.0.4.376.49_5 firmware.

I was a bit confused about what the factory reset meant.
I shut down the router and held down the WPS button while restarting it.
Was that right?

If I check under Tools, I see the following info:
Firmware Build: Fri Mar 6 19:46:18 UTC 2015 merlin@682f619
Bootloader: 1.0.1.9
Driver: wl0: Oct 17 2014 12:47:21 version 6.30.163.2002 (r382208)

Does this seem correct?
Shouldn't the driver be newer than Oct 17 2014?

Thank you!

Wow - I just loaded this FW and I love the new features and tools - way cooler than stock - thanks Merlin :)

I just have one question - does Site Survey only work for 2.4GHz? I do not see any for 5GHz but inSSIDer shows me that there is one other extender in range.......

Make sure that you don't have MAC filtering enabled, and that the 5 GHz radio is enabled.

The wireless driver does not get updated with every new release from Asus.

Have you tried an other browser of clean de browser cache? Check de windows of router log too

Merlin:

I have problems with my jffs2 partition.
I have reflashed my rt-ac87u twice with your 378.51_newqt firmware but have no jffs partition.
I can see it in winscp but it is read-only.

Factory reset and other things i have tried.
Mtd-erase2 jffs2 does not work

I get a bad block message at boot.
Cowardly refusing to erase blocks on filesystem with no valid JFFS2 nodes.
Empty blocks 0 bad blocks 1 c->nr blocks 502

Any help or advise is very welcome.

Regards

Mike

Stupid question and it probably has nothing to do with the firmware, but Starwars the old republic I use to 20-30ms ping now all of sudden i have 40-60 ms and some times higher to The shadowlands server.

Is possible the firmware update is to blame? or and right in thinking it probably the server cause. I dont wana go 378.50 cause the wifi issue the ac66u had and i dont want to go back to previous firmware. so i waiting till next none beta release is made

There's a bug in 378.51 where you cannot reformat the JFFS partition. You will have to wait for the 378.52 release if you need to reformat it.
