ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

I patiently wait and then flash these firmwares as they are released. I'm still seeing all the port forwards I enter drop after some period of time (usually a few hours to a couple of days). Disabling then re-enabling port forwarding corrects it for a time. I've got several servers running behind this thing and spent a lot of money on it. You can't beat the performance, but the port forward issue is killing me. It appears they're never going to fix or address this. I'm really disappointed about this. Multiple tech support requests have either resulted in them sending me on a wild goose chase or acknowledging there is a firmware problem and saying it's being worked on, but it never seems to get addressed...

Have you tried the DDWRT?

What firmware version are you using? If it is an Asus' stock version then I would switch to Merlin's 378.51 or better and navigate to the "Firewall" page. The last selection is NAT Loopback, and select "Merlin" if it is set to something else (either Asus or Disable). The Asus NAT Loopback is broken so do not use it! Good luck dude! :)

Just updated to the latest firmware. Still having speed issues on iOS. My Fios is 300/300 and my iphone 6 gets 50/60 max on the down and about 150 on the up. My macbook pro gets about 200 each way. This sucks, I should just go back to my 66U.

Anyone have similar issues? Also my signature version is still 1.0.10.0. I tried power cycling and resetting. Also I have beamforming off on 5 and 2.5 GHz.

I posted this on the thread about running two 87us (ap/router): give Ap a self assigned static ap outside of the dhcp assignment block (same subnet) and it works great.
Same here, I had tried for quite some time to get AP mode to work and it was just not going to happen. Finally just downloaded the 3/18/15 firmware update and it is working fine with two routers, 1 in AP mode. Wow did that take a long time to get fixed.

If there is ANY logic to this at all (and frankly I doubt it), it could be they wait until firmware is really bedded in before releasing it to people who bought retail (who they might assume, on average (no insult intended to any individuals here :)), to be less clued up. Kinda like the current Windows 10 "slow ring" and "fast ring". But I doubt it's that thought out!

Hi,

I have installed the new firmware. No problems so far :)

Needed reset the router? I dont like this...setup everything again....

well you can choose not to reset, but its best if you do it to avoid problems..

i am using it now, overall its a solid firmware with slight tweaks here and there..

Does a Telnet erase nvram do the same thing as the reset push?

Not sure about that, but I think Merlin has said that clicking on the factory reset option in the ASUS web interface is the same as pressing the reset button for 5 seconds.

Yes, at least imo

I'm betting $10 on hot as in 'sexy'. :)

If it was just high cpu heat it would be too hot as in 'un cool'.
