Do you know the Telnet commands to bring up the firmware versions?

Driver version is only of limited relevance, as Asus has been doing other tweaks to the Quantenna firmware itself, without changing its wireless driver.

Pardon my ignorance, is it legal to perform modification to the driver without quantenna's approval? Just a curious question in mind..

Asus has the complete source code to it. It's in fact up to the OEMs to adapt and compile the code to their devices.

Yes, there is a delay with any asuswrt till now and forget about asus stock firmware and try asuswrt-merlin which got tweaks and fixes. Anyway, I build this firmware for you to try ... I think it should not has this delay and slower time response.
It is asuswert-merlin 378.52_alpha 4 updated till latest revision and note that there is few mods.
Try it and lets us know.

Can you share the commit hash from which this firmware was built? It's useful to determine what is included and what hasn't been.

see RMerlin's post #214

That is an ever changing list of commits. It would be useful to have the specific hash from the commit the firmware was built on so that as time passes and RMerlin updates the firmware there is a clear indicator of what each build includes and does not include.

Code:
git rev-parse HEAD
will provide the hash value of the latest local commit, assuming a pull hasn't been performed since the build.

Has anyone tried this firmware? Does Merlin endorse these builds?

This firmware is compiled from the updates that Merlin posts on Github. Merlin has posted that he neither supports or prohibits anyone from doing what saifooz is doing. However, Merlin warned that many of these builds contain undocumented changes/fixes/upgrades and the use of such should be considered to be at your own risk. Merlin has also suggested certain safety precautions for saifooz to follow but I do not see that user taking Merlin's suggestions, at least not yet. :)

So the bottom line is that it could be dangerous. (back doors etc)
No thanks. The Asus 4608 official release is running perfectly for me. No more of those
page slow downs over time.

Have you tried this one?

I'm so frustrated with this thing. I am on the ASUS firmware 3.0.0.4.378_4608. I can connect to both bands, but my 5G band stops working. My devices still show connected with Internet access, but you can't browse. Disconnecting and reconnecting temporarily fixes it. Which firmware is supposed to resolve that issue? Not sure I have any other complaints about this firmware, but I just connect to my slower 2.4 band so I won't get frustrated. The whole point of buying this router was for the speeds! I tried a DD-WRT version a couple of weeks ago but had issues with it as well.

1. Disable beam forming on both bands
2. If that does not work use the firmware Merlin posted in this thread (a page or two back) And do reset to factory defaults . Configure from scratch

I am not going to say all my 5ghz issues are resolved . But they are waaayyyyy better than ever . I have to reboot the router ever so often when your problem occurs on mine and all is well again

Still having the 5G issue.
I am sorry, my fault, that is not the one
this firmware RT-AC87U_3.0.0.4_378.52_alpha3

let me know how you do.
NOTE: you must reset to factory defaults, and load from new manually.
--after flash, and the 2.5 and 5GHz lights come up (after ~3 minutes) press and hold the reset for ~6 seconds until power light flashes (wait for ~3 minutes again for the router to come up again), then configure all settings manually, and find my settings in that thread and configure your wifi settings to the ones I use.

I also use a laptop cooler under mine, it does help, but not sure how much.

You using it? hows wifi?

I think I may go back , I had one hell of a time this morning with ios and wifi in the one I posted above.
I also purchased a NAS today (on sale amazon) I am tired of the stutter from movie playback thru the router.

EDIT: I just switched back, trying dd-wrt now, wifi on the other merlin alfa 3 just went to sh!!.
Most likely due to the reboot of the router I did last night that so far not any firmware has passed with this router.
