There's a bug in 378.51 where you cannot reformat the JFFS partition. You will have to wait for the 378.52 release if you need to reformat it.
Is this bug (unable to format the JFFS partition) also present in 378.52_alpha3?

Can I go back to a previous version to fix the problem ? Or must I wait for the next version to fix the format issue?
If I can go back then that is no problem for me just to format the JFFS but if that can't be fixed with that step then I don't have to do that :)

If the bug is not present in 378.52_alpha3 then you can flash that version. However, I am still waiting for Merlin to answer that question for me.

I have an issue with the latest firmware on my AC66U router - I am not able to reach a consistent speed on 5GHz compared with the older firmware. Everything has been reset to default after upgrade and HW acceleration is enabled. I tested different channels but the result is still not ok. Has anyone else experienced this behavior? I have attached 2 pictures to see the differences between the 2 different firmwares.

@Merlin: thank you for your support so far, let's see if in this community somebody else is experience the same

Thank you,
Iulian

I think the fix was applied after.

You can use this updated version of mtd-write2. Copy it to your router (you can put it in /tmp), rename it mtd-erase2, then call it this way:

Code:
/tmp/mtd-erase2 brcmnand

Tried it but no joy over here.

Get this message
@RT-AC87U-FD18:/tmp# /tmp/mtd-erase2 brcmnand
brcmnand: Input/output error
@RT-AC87U-FD18:/tmp#

Any other options to try perhaps ? I have changed the persissions on the file in /tmp to 755 otherwise it could not be run.

Hi all - new here and new to Merlin's FW on my router. I've ran Asus' fw but have gotten tired of such poor quality from them. So thanks Merlin for all your work!!

That said, is there a master entry that Merlin is keeping track of all reported issues with the latest 378.51 release? I have placed this on my RT-AC68U and have since had massive issues with 5G staying up - my laptop, which is the only device that uses my 5G network, keeps dropping the connection, and when it does have the connection, it is like the performance is horrible to point that I "appear" to get drops even though the connection still appears to be there...

You'd probably have to unmount the jffs partition first.

Simpler that you wait for the next release instead.

Have you tried an other browser of clean de browser cache? Check de windows of router log too

Yes, i tried different Browsers and devices (Windows, MAC OSX, iOS).... Cleared Cache ... nothing works.

After running the "service restart_httpd" command from SSH its now stable for some days! Very strange...

Since some people were spooked enough that I can't repeat the experience, I thought I'd share this old video of a past April's Fool (for those who weren't around two years ago) ;)

(I should however have made a "April Fool Self-Kit" that people could have manually installed and activated)

Ahh, I remember the release fondly. It was very comical. I was waiting for the network map to melt as well.
To fix the falling menu bar, I did a complete reset and clear nvram. Without John's nvram save/restore. Then re-entered all the settings in binary.

Fixed it.

(April Fools..)

Thanks for at least the refresh!

I was right my issue with the starwars the old republic was there server seeing i getting normal ping times again to there server

Is there an issue on the 87U with 378.51_newqtn that causes loss of WAN traffic after a reboot? After a reboot, I always have to disable and re-enable the WAN in the GUI or unplug and re-plug the WAN cable to get traffic flowing to the internet again. The weird thing is that DNS queries still work just nothing else.

Already fixed in the next release.

Please merge source code from asus RT-AC87U because released 378.4950 code.

378.52 was developed and tested around 4708. I have no plan on delaying this release by an extra three weeks just because a new GPL was "just released", with its own share of new problems. Plus, I don't even know if that code works with the OTHER models I also have to support.

Guys, jumping at me every time a new firmware is released by Asus is pointless, and quite frankly is starting to get a bit annoying. After all these years, you should know by now that new code gets merged in due time. This isn't a 5 minutes operation. So, please stop.
