RT-AC87U 3.0.0.4.378_4608 Unofficial Beta Firmware

What version of DD-WRT is everyone referring to? The RT-87 is not listed in the DD-WRT database.

I found it here. Is this what everyone is using?

Untrained 1st line support

New here - jumping in head first..... Thought I would measure in. I've bought the AC87 about five months ago. Have always had the lag. I think it is worse on this release. Local TWC issues made my wife beat me until I conceded to work on it. I replaced my SB6141 with a new SB6183 - no difference. Currently have 35Meg down 5+ Meg up. Speedtest was showing bandwidth jumping all over the place. That specific problem turned out to be a bad Microsoft Update for the SP3 that took a week to find. A newer update to the SP3 fixed that but that was after I loaded the 4608 which lead me to the worse lagging issue.

I've been running the 378_4608 for several (10) days and it seams like the lag to the internet is significant (my internet search for that is what brought me here). I have AiProtection & Adaptive QoS off and WPS off along with no beamforming. I'm an android user but wife is iOS. I have 19 client overall connected - mostly hardwired. Only wireless are two smartphones, 1 old Roku and the occasionally undocked SP3. Physical environment is 2200 sq.ft. with one old Cisco Router acting as a extender. Just yesterday I disabled the two quest networks. The drops on the iOS are significant and the page loads are awful. I've downloaded DD-WRT but have yet to load it. After I put the 4608 firmware in I did not reset the router or reload my settings manually. I have never found that to make any difference - can anyone vouch on way or the other?

You should try 4839 build

As you can suspect, the first troubleshooting step you need to do it is to fully reset the router. Build 4608 introduced new drivers and new defaults and only a reset will ensure that you are not running on a broken machine. Then, most importantly, do not restore any backup settings. For testing purpose make as little as possible manual changes to defaults and then test it.

He's giving you the generic, safe answer that applies to most models.

I'm telling you, from a code point of view, the firmware for the RT-AC87U and RT-AC87R are identical, bit by bit. There isn't even an RT-AC87R model mentionned in the source code, Asus themselves compile it as an RT-AC87U, and rename the file.
