I have an Ooma, and have had it configured for several years as:

(Cox) Internet <-- Motorola SB6120 Modem <-- DLink DIR-655

DLink DIR-655 <-- Ooma (Internet Port)
DLink DIR-655 <-- Trendnet TEG-S80g 8-Port Switch

Trendnet TEG-S80g <-- Various PC's and other devices

This has worked fine, no special configuration in the router or anything for the Ooma. I want to change it to where the Ooma is now plugged into the switch, and not the router anymore. When I do this, the Ooma refuses to work, no matter how many times I reboot all the equipment, or try booting order.

Why should this be any different? In theory, shouldn't the switch just be replicating more ports for the 4 port switch built into the router?

If your D-Link device has the Option for Enable/Disable SIP ALG, toggle it and see if things work better...

Your Ooma device has to punch a hole thru your firewall - and it's a bit different than just port forwarding or uPnP port triggering, and SIP-ALG might break it...

Well, thanks for reading such an old post! That fixed it! So glad, because I've been putting off the equipment install into a used server rack I got, because I was going to have to have cables returning from the wifi router, which was going to be the only thing mounted outside the rack.

Many thanks to you for solving this problem!
