Just flashed my RT-AC68U.
Everything ok but now upload speed from PC to router's usb hdd via FTP is too slow (12 MB/s). Download with FTP is ok (60 MB/s), upload & download with Samba is also ok.
PC is connected to router at 1 Gbps through cat6 cable. QoS is disabled and 'reducing USB 3.0 interference' is also disabled.
¿Could anyone please try to replicate this to check if it has something to do with the new firm?

Just wake up and now is working ok (58 MB/s) without touching anything. ;)
I'll continue testing the firmware.

Traffic Analyzer now runs fine and fast. Traffic values are still messed up, but that's Asus bussines.

Working perfect on my AC56U. Haven't used Merlin for almost a year because I couldn't figure how to set up selective routing with VPN but could get it to work with Tomato. But with 378.53 selective VPN routing works great, no issues at all. Tomato is good but I always preferred Merlin. Thanks!

Thank you Merlin! Working fine on my RT-AC68U. Except still those errors in the log:
Apr 28 08:31:40 kernel: Dead loop on virtual device vlan34, fix it urgently!
I know this can be fixed with putty: tc qdisc add dev vlan34 root pfifo
Nevertheless still a bit surprised these errors keep occurring.

I am currently using .53 and have the RT-N66W router. Where can i find the ad blocker settings? I looked thorough all the pages and i'm unable to locate it. Thanks
Hello, as reported into the announcement "This feature is only available on the DPI-enabled models (AC56/AC68/AC87/AC3200)."

How would I use the new selective VPN feature to allow only ASUS download master to use the VPN, but let all the other computers on my network use the regular internet? Would I just use the IP 192.168.1.1?

Thanks!

Hi,

With 378.53 my CPU gets to 100% for Core 1 while speedtest.net.
Anyone with similair issues?

with 378.52_2 I think it only got to 30-40 %

Regards,
Christian

No plan to, as I consider both PPTP and L2TP to be deprecated. The only reasons they are there is because Asus added it. My VPN focus is strictly on OpenVPN.

Hi RMerlin,
Please, continue to support PPTP on these routers if is not too difficult. PPTP is still part of Microsoft OS and Windows still has a big part of the market.

Big fun of your firmware!

What happened to the check for firmware update button as it does not exist on this version?

I removed that a year or two ago, since I don't provide any auto-update mechanism.

WE CAN CLOSE THIS:

AI Protection, DNS Filtering, Global Filtering - I don't think there's a firmware glitch because of Items 5 and 7 below. But just in case .......

RT-AC68U

I decided to re-check the DNS Filtering after the .53 flash.

Prior to flashing with .53, I had DNS Filtering set to ON and Global set to No Filtering, ( using the Client list as required).

After the .53 flash, I changed Global Filter Mode to Router and found I couldn't initially access the Internet.

WAN DNS Servers 1 and 2 are set to my malicious-domain-blocking Raspberry Pi at 192.168.1.10. LAN-DHCP DNS is blank.

On testing:

1. Global= Router, Internet = BLOCKED

2. Global= Custom 1 = 192.168.1.10, Internet = BLOCKED

3. Global= Router, device in Client List set to (Custom) 192.168.1.10, Internet = BLOCKED

4. Global= Router, device in Client List set to Router, Internet = BLOCKED

5. Global= Router, device in Client List set to Custom 1= 8.8.8.8 or any pre-listed eg OpenDNS, Internet= ACCESS

6. Global= No Filtering, device in Client set to Router, Internet = ACCESS

7. But when I changed WAN DNS to, say, 8.8.8.8 (instead of 192.168.1.10) (and left Global Filter Mode as Router), I could access the Internet.

So the glitch appears down to my having 192.168.1.10 (the Raspberry Pi DNS server) in my WAN DNS when Global Filtering Mode is set to Router (or internal Custom device).

As I say, this is not even an inconvenience for me: I don't need DNS Filtering, and I could always go back to No Filtering and use the Client List. I'm only concerned that there shouldn't be a bug.

SOLVED As indicated, not a bug. Problem is that the the internal DNS server - 192.168.1.10 - needs to be listed in the Client List in DNS Filtering under NO FILTERING, otherwise I guess an infinite loop is set up: the Global Filter says ROUTER and, unless otherwise specified, that includes the local DNS server, whose external DNS address is, in my case, the 2 OpenDNS servers. So, unless it's listed as NO FILTERING in the Client List, it gets sent back to the Router instead of out to the public DNS server.

@RMerlin : Thank you for all your hard work and efforts. Been a long time user. Was running 374.43.2 for a while now using a custom PBR script via JFFS. Decided to upgrade today to the latest release and try out the new PBR option. For the options I use, everything is working great !

After 21 hours of work, suddenly router lost all communication wired and wireless.. I can't connect to router to see what's happening. After power off and on, works again.
