New Around Here
Hello everybody.
I recently got TM-AC1900.
I also have SamKnows modified Netgear WNR3500L. To properly do its thing SK router needs to be connected 1st after my cable modem.
From what I was able to figure out, if I disable WAN port on TM-AC1900 and switch it into "AP" mode(rather than "Router mode"), it should able to work being connected 2nd.
However, if I do that DDNS functionality seems to go away.
Is there some way around this problem? To keep it in AP mode and still have DDNS?

Perhaps depends on the DDNS service/host, but this should work fine if the client works in AP mode...

well ddns menu disappears when i switch it to AP mode..

Yeah, they hide it in the UI, and perhaps not a bad thing, as there is an assumption that there's another router between the AP and the DDNS provider.

Most providers do offer DDNS standalone clients, so that's another option - one is not locked into using one on the router...

But even if there's another router in front of AP, it should not prevent it from finding out its public IP and update ddns service.
Netgear SK router that is in front supports only "dyndns.com" proper, which no longer offer that service.

Is there some way to enable DDNS menu while in AP mode?

DDNS is not supported in AP mode because Asus's implementation relies on the IP address that gets allocated to its WAN interface - something that's not present in AP mode.

ah... in any event, userspace apps are running (e.g. the management interface/web gui) - Asus DDNS client may need to know the WAN interface as part of their implementation.

I use DynDNS, with a standalone updater... (yeah, I know, folks hate on DynDNS once they killed off free-acounts...)
