I know this thread is kinda old now, but I've been quite busy shooting a movie the last couple of months and haven't had time to follow up on this. I'm still a little confused by using LAG, and if it's even beneficial if I don't have any other devices setup using LAG, yet. I plan on buying a NAS that supports it, even 10GB speeds, but I haven't done this yet.
In my system, my MB is an Asus X99 Deluxe, which offers 2-1GB LAN ports and an AC wireless connection. If I go into the properties of one of the 1GB ports, it has an option for teaming. I went through the process, it noticed my 2nd 1GB connection to team the other with and when it was completed, I had 1 2GB connection on my PC. The switch my PC is hooked up to, a Netgear GS108T, which supports 2GB per port and can also be setup for LAG. If my PC is setup for LAG and I have 2 LAN connections running to my switch, do I also need to setup LAG on the switch using the 2 ports my PC is connected to?
