a curious (in many ways) posting from the Synology user forum

Their website shows that DSM 5.2 has been downloaded over 1 million times in a week... WOW. I had been staying away because of the apparent trouble listed on the forum. Seems like maybe that is a really small percentage of the installs.

several in the beta/new releases forum complain that after the 5.2 update, they cannot access the NAS via the LAN.
Of course as said in post 1 here, only the forum-oriented people post at all, and people with glitches/issues of course are more likely to post than those with no troubles.

I see an update 1 to 5.2 came out, but it didn't mention this problem.

Always have a backup, and I totally get the "feeling" of upgrade concerns...

Not always works out - things can happen - again, always have a backup..

It is my old habit, I never rush the update. Wait until it is proven OK.

I think I got some email about an urgent update to 5.2...

Any big update will always have bugs, how urgent they are is hard to say. I did not go to 5.2 yet since I don't need new features so urgently, but even my NAS auto downloads updates so I probably show up in their statistics as somebody who has downloaded it (remember reporting always shows something, but not necessarily what you think it does).
