The V1 would get pretty warm, about as warm as my 87R but so far the V2 has been running very cool. Its hardly warm to the touch.

how did they do it

i totally forgot about this option in v1 :p, do you get an option to do 1 SSID for 2 and 5 ghz wifi together ?

Complete flexibility with naming each SSID for the primary wireless network...

It's been a while, but I think Guest SSID is common across both bands..

More efficient tech that doesnt generate as much heat. You can name the ssid's the same or different. Up to you.

Its the same with the guest network, the default is two different ssids.

It allows for naming of each band separately. By default, the 5Ghz guest SSID (and the private 5Ghz private SSID for that matter) is set identical to the 2.4Ghz guest SSID with "5G" appended on the end of it.

However, the Linksys software uses a captive portal with an open SSID instead of wireless authentication. Even though the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz SSIDs can be different, the PASSWORD cannot be. Each band uses the same password.

I have previously used my router with different SSIDs for both bands, private and guest (4 SSIDs total) and it works fine. It's configured now with a single private SSID for both bands and a single guest SSID for both bands. That is also working fine.

Just to be clear, I doubt Linksys is going to drop support of the WRT1900AC v1 due to the fact that they know they can't afford to alienate the customers who made the gamble and shelled out the cash for it when it was released last year, by being told it's end of life a year later. If they did, that'd pretty much irreparably damage the brand. On a lighter note, I really hope they release a matching WRT wireless access point. Maybe chadster766 can pass the info along to the engineers.

Did online chat with sales rep and told me they are shipping V2 right now . Btw i was told linksys new antennas gonna be available on the 23rd
Unfortunately we've still not seen the antennas for sale anywhere, it being the 31st at this time. :(

That would be awesome. I'm looking for an AP right now and would love something with the same look and feel.

I wish they'd incorporate AFP/Time Machine support as well. The router already supports HFS+ volumes but it only serves them up via SMB...

I mean the fact that they released a matching WRT AP the first time around, it'd be a huge mistake if they don't.

Probably a licensing issue from Apple, but if that ever gets resolved it's a simply a matter of updating the firmware.

You know what, Linksys should send the 4 pack antennas to every V1 owner as a sign of customer loyalty and gratitude.

they will never , imagine the number of people gonna ask for these antennas :D for free + the mtf who gonna buy v1 just to get the antennas then return the router and list the new antennas over ebay :p

Can someone please post a screenshot of the openvpn (options) linksys just add ?
