Hi Everyone,

Here's the latest Unofficial Beta.
I have just received it this morning and I was not provided with the release notes as it's a very early beta, but for anxious people who wants to be testing the latest firmware they are working on, here it is:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rjktbchb93hwr7p/RT-AC87U_3.0.0.4_378_6038-gb1f340f.trx?dl=0

Note: I was not told to hard reset, but if you find any issue then do it. If you continue with issues please let me know so I can share it asap with ASUS.

I'm upset it doesn't require a reboot, as that means there's no new drivers on the 5Ghz side.

May I ask where you got this? I would have expected the Asus rep to share it on the other forum first.

I've got it directly from an ASUS contact, not even an official rep.
He's quite busy always, so ASUS@SG on the "other" forum (I don't want to mention it, in case rules in SNB don't allow it) usually shares it first.

I'll update the main post if I get the release notes.

Sorry, but after applying it, it requested me to manually reboot device from the power button.

Two things that should be changed versus the last public beta (based on what I know about the private 5887 beta that I already had here):

  • AiProtection block page should now be displayed properly even if you had your webui set to HTTPS-only
  • New Network client list design

There are definitely more changes than that, but those are two I'm aware of.

The usual problem of the WPS for 5Ghz turned ON (even if the GUI report it to off) is still there. For the rest, it is running fine.
Yes, still there... :S

Dear Sentinelvdx, do you know if more Huawei 4g mobile routers support was added?

I've been trying for days to get it to work with a Huawei E5377 with no results o_O

Not to be honest, but I'll share it.
Now I'm testing _6065 which is coming with new stuff.
I'll share it when they allow me to.

WPS bug with pin '12345670' still present.
No MU-MIMO.

My contact from Quantenna said they released MU-MIMO to ASUS and ASUS is still testing that for the next official release. Now that Linksys has MU-MIMO with QCA chipset, it is about the time ASUS fulfill the MU-MIMO "ready".

They must really be trying hard to fix problems. This is a large jump in build number in a relatively short period of time. I really hope they can resolve the 5ghz disconnect issues.

Those build numbers aren't specific to one single model, it's increased by all their development. I suspect a lot of that development is for the new models coming out later this year.

WTB Router with small touch screen and/or a smartphone app to go with it. Hell, add a multicore SoC HDMI out and make it a media center

Almond+ is partly there, they have a touchscreen ;)

I got one. It's a pretty cool device, which tries to bring something new AND useful to the table (their home automation integration).

Smartphone app. is being developed for that. Be patient ;)
