Is anyone having issues with port forwarding rules not saving?

I had that same problem and RMerlin pointed me to the NVRAM usage on the Tools page. My NVRAM usage was almost maxed out and by moving my OpenVPN configurations to JFFS, it freed NVRAM and strange issues like missing Port Forwarding rules disappearing stopped (among other things).

I hope that this helps,

I do. Scratch that, They get saved but are getting wiped out, at sometime overnight.
First on my RT-AC68, which I replaced(because of this problem) with my old RT-N66U.
I still have the same problem.

This is on 378.53 on both routers.
Current NVRAM Status on my 66:
Internal Storage
NVRAM usage
40359 / 65536 bytes
JFFS 0.50 / 11.50 MB

I use no user scripts, or have any other packages installed, or any other exotic changes.
I've done Factory resets using the GUI, reset button, and the WPS reset as well.
I have manually re-entered the settings after reset to avoid any corruption.

My manually assigned IPs are retained, along with pretty much every other setting except Port Forwarding.
Nothing in my network has changed. Same modem and devices.

I have to restore settings every morning to get NAS and IP camera access. It's driving me insane.

Need help before I'm forced to plop in my old Netgear or Dlink (God forbid!)

I came from FW RT-AC66U_3.0.0.4_376.49_2 . I have just updated to this version. I just loaded it over previous version. I know I have read that it might be needed to do a factory reset if moving between major releases. Do I need to do that now ? I think I also read that I should not import settings but rather re-do them, correct?
If I do a factory reset that will also reset the user id password, correct.

Up running with out any factory reset but what might the consequences of that be ?

OK, decided not to be lazy and did a factory reset. Did it from the router UI, that's enough right? Don't need to do any hardware button reset ?
After searching here on the forum I understod that some up-dates to ex wifi might not apply if not doing a factory reset.

I took a look and mine seems to be the maxed out. What did you do to move the config files to JFFS?

Anyone else having constant new tabs/pages opening directing to ad.doubleclick.net? The page and source itself are blank/empty. This is caused by the Trend Micro WRS ad-blocker keeping this ad from working, but it opens a new blank page, which is very irritating while browsing. Is there any way to fix this?

Disable the ad blocker. That feature is known as being buggy, and will be removed in the next release as it cannot be fixed.

Thanks for your response. The problem is, I cannot find any option in the web-ui to disable it. I have an AC-66U with the latest stable build.

Then it can't be the ad blocker, since that's based on Trend Micro technology that's not available on the RT-AC66U.

Ok, thanks! The problem is, I keep getting this messages on 2 machines in my LAN. One is Mac-based and the other is Windows-based machine. I have already scanned the systems, the Windows-machine even got a new fresh installation.

I'm using Google Chrome on all machines, but I have removed all my extensions, resetted the settings, cleared the cache, cookies etc. None of which helped. So, it could still be something within Chrome, but I have no idea what.

I have a similar-ish problem... The rules that I manually make are fine, but the ones that I select from the list (ie, HTTP) are saved, but just don't work.... Where just manually typing in port 80 etc works fine.

The 2.4 GHz driver has been unchanged for months on the RT-AC87U (because Asus failed to provide it in their last two GPL releases), and the 5 GHz updates have resolved quite serious connectivity issues for all Apple product owners. The vast majority of the feedback reported improvements with the newer 5 GHz driver, so I recommend you do a factory default reset and manually reconfigure your router if you haven't done so since 378.51. If you're still experiencing issues, then start troubleshooting your LAN environment.

Last firmware release was only two weeks ago, and there hasn't even been any new release from Asus since then... There's nothing new to release.

Hi. Maybe they've fixed 5 GHz driver for Apple, but from this firmware my Samsung Note 4 with Android L disconnects every 3-4 minutes from 5GHz network and that drains battery a lot. Tested on RT-AC87U with fresh Merlin 378.53. I've performed a factory reset for the phone to be sure it's not some problem with it.
Now I'm on stock Asus 378_5134 and there is no issue. There is no problem with 2.4 GHz just to be clear.

Edit: The same thing happens on 378_5134 from Asus... in a search for a root cause...

I also have problems with the 5 GHz driver, for all my Android devices. If I am connected to 5GHz I can easily surf, however if I try to use my iRule app (to remote control stereo / media system) it will not always work - some transmissions is just not going thru. Chaning to 2.4GHz, everything works like a charm. Now I have Nexus 7 (2013), Samsung Tab S, Samsung Tab 4, Asus TF700, Sony Z3, Sony Z1 Compact - I have moved them all to the 2.4GHz, since 5GHz just do not work...!

Feel bad for that, I have no problems with my AC 87-U at all, experiencing a lot of AD Blocks also on the mobile phone. Isn't there any way to keep the AD Blocker?

Only way is to use the firmware which currently has it. Not supported in any future firmware.

Been running .53 on my AC56U since it was released and it has been flawless. Wifi, QoS, openvpn, USB drive, AiProtection, ipv6 has no issues for me. Great work.

first i want to say thank you for the hard work RMerlin.

Now my question is how do i do this? im having this same problem, specially it happens when my PS4 downloads games/updates (big ones). (at first i thought my ISP)

Hi Merlin
Thanks for great firmware I've been using it since I bought my AC66U last year.

Today I checked system logs and found a lot of abnormal login attempts. I checked settings and Web Access was disabled as it was by default. Switching on and off didn't help so I had to enable IP filtering .
