Very clever design in my opinion and it looks good, I think I finally find my 1st NAS.
SNB late in posting the news? :p There is also the new TS-251C but I'll pass on it.

Looks good. What price point?

HDMI / graphics/transcoding is a price premium.
As are dual etherenet.

But if cost is no object!

Cost is never an object! Paying the CC is. :)

Thought it would be smaller - e.g. take advantage of 2.5" drives...

How would it compare to TS-453 pro? Which is a tad cheaper!

From a HW perspective, they're pretty much same - you lose the LCD Panel, which might be important to some folks.

SW should be right about the same... it's just a different spin on the TS-x53 series...

You probably right! the difference is that the Mini looks cooler I guess ..

For some folks, appearance is a major factor...

My worry is the plastic drive bays, but this is a minor nit perhaps... the other concern would be that going from a well-known horizontal stack to a more vertical stack - what's the cooling going to be like - since the mainboard is on the bottom, one might see some heat-soak into the drives compared to the TS-453Pro and TS-451...

I was just, perhaps, based on photos, expecting it to be a bit smaller, leveraging into 2.5" drives, and perhaps being slightly larger than perhaps an current gen AirPort Extreme/Time Capsule...

But agreed, it's pleasant to the eye... if it were white plastic, one would almost think it escaped from the secret labs in Cupertino :D

Valid point I must say ,I ll have to wait and see

The other thing I noticed is that the drive trays are plastic vs. metal - so lose a bit of passive heat sink from the drives, and that the drive bay doors aren't ventilated - so again, I would be a bit concerned with heat soak on this unit...

It's a weird layout - maybe it works... but compare it to the TS-453Pro, or the TS-451...

I guess you could call it that. Pretty much, yes.
