Pls ignore my previous post on Apple TV, I *think* this is due to the new igmp settings under LAN -> IPTV. Since enabling IGMP snooping there all has been good even on the latest test build, pretty sure this option was not present in previous fw versions.

Sorry bro. That has been present for as long as I can remember.

I already do that if it's an important security update. As I said, there was nothing major in this particular OpenSSL update, hence the lack of mention.

I take the time to specify which version I update to (which is more than many other developers do), it's up to endusers to do the remaining legwork and check those version's own changelog if they want to know more. Otherwise, people would also start expecting me to also report bugfixes from those particular updates, and just a simple changelog would become a chore in itself (and a maze to read through), and a waste of my time. I don't think it's too difficult for anyone to look on the web for the specific version I mentioned.

You need not explain yourself Eric. If that user has an issue, and he apparently has taken umbrage to something, what I do not know, then they need to stick with stock firmware.

Since upgrading to 378.54.2 I have been unable to load the USB Application page for my router. The page just says Updating... indefinitely. I am still new to this process and am not familiar with troubleshooting methods.

My USB drive is still accessible through SMB with the settings that I had before the upgrade, but I cannot change any settings. Please let me know what I can do to resolve this issue or what I can do to troubleshoot. Thanks.

I didn't do it systematically, but if you check the changelog, you'll see references to security updates for OpenSSL and Samba.

Code:
- CHANGED: Updated openssl to 1.0.0o, resolving a few security issues.

Code:
- CHANGED: Updated openssl to 1.0.0n (numerous security fixes)
Code:
- CHANGED: upgraded main Samba server from 3.0.x to 3.6.24. This might
cause a slight drop in performance, but should improve
both reliability and security.

Code:
- FIXED: CVE-2015-0240 security issue in Samba 3.5.8 (used by AiCloud). The main Samba daemon was patched by the update to 3.6.25.

As I said, I only mention it if there was a serious security issue involved.

Hello there!

This is the first time I ever had to post an issue on my ASUS AC66U running latest Merlin build 378.54_2 . Every second night the radio crashes. The WIFI networks both (2G / 5G) disappear and do not come back until I power-cycle the device. I did not factory-reset the thing as I never had to do that after initially switching to merlin build.
What I think is worth mentioning is, that with this software the radios both are always reading a temperature of 56°C to 60°C. I reduced the output power a bit so I saved another 2..3K.
I use the router as a secondary ssh gateway into my home but it does not run any other services.

In this no-wifi state the web GUI is still available and showing radio enabeld. But from the beginning of using 378.54_0 or 378.54_1 the web interface often loads then stops loading making a large pause, then finishes.

Is any of this known? Does factory reset help? And How do I issue a factory reset, as after using Merlin Builds I never had to factory reset this device for some years now...

Keep up the good work!

Sorry bro. That has been present for as long as I can remember.

Thanks - things have improved significantly since that change but there are still lingering intermittent issues, will continue to tweak and will report back if I manage to crack it.

Just wanted to share that today the administration page from my router was broken (no sidebar, and the center was missing the content with just empty fields). I thought that was browser related but got the same result and two different browsers when I decided to reboot. The Wifi didn't come up, and I got no connection using Ethernet as well (dhcp or specifying an ip on the same subnet). I had to factory reset using the recovery mode. Not sure what caused the problem and since dlna and transmission are running on my old tplink box with openwrt I decided to load the stock rom.

Good day,
From the time I did the update (without reset, cause I upgrading from the previous version), I cannot see my HDD in network.

This is the current configuraton. Normally it should show in network places as a computer. But I cannot see anything.

I have been struggling with an issue with my AC68U for a while now hoping that later versions of firmware would fix it. I'm running firmware 378.54_2 and have been having issues with the router freezing. The only way for me to bring it back to life is to power it down with the button and then repower it up with the button. The unfortunate part of this is that when it reboots, the log is toast so I can't see what caused it to freeze in the first place. It has been happening with the previous version of 378.53 for sure (cause I just updated hoping that would fix it) and maybe with 378.52 but I don't remember.

Disabled jumbo frames  a couple of days ago and Apple TV AirPlay/home sharing is again working as it should.

Constant disconnects on my 5Ghz. Hopefully this is solved on the next version. I upgraded from Merlin's previous FW that he had, didn't think I had to hard reset on this update. But the drops on 5Ghz are beginning to make me wonder.

I tried to enable custom scripts "Administrator -> System -> Enable JFFS custom scripts and configs -> YES" but shortly after I hit "Apply" I was prompted with a router login window and was not able to login with my User/Pass. I even tried the default but to no avail. I ended up having to do a factory reset. I tried yet again after doing the reset and setting everything up and still the same thing happened. Is there another setting that needs to be enabled/disabled or is this just an BUG of some sorts?

After upgrading my RT-AC66U I started to noticed that my 5G was dropping at least once a day. Downgraded to the previous version today to see if the situation gets solved

This is because you have an autofill feature on your browser which modified the username or the password on that page.

I'm having a peculiar experience on the DHCP page at http://[router]/Advanced_DHCP_Content.asp. After several factory resets, I can only get the page to display once, for me to enter all of my entries. On any subsequent loads of the page it looks like the image below. Have tried IE, Chrome and FF but all ONLY mis-render this page... have cleared all caches, and have tried on android device and 3 Windows 8.1 PCs.

This usually happen if you enter an invalid character in the name field, for example a single quote. Stick to alphanumerics on that page. If you open your web browser's error console, you will see the line that breaks the Javascript.

Excellent, that has to be it. Thanks!

Edit: Had an ' in a Name in DHCP... edited it and restored and it's all good. Thanks!
