Asuswrt-Merlin dev
I finally nailed the broken webui issues introduced in Asus's 6065/6117 GPL. That one was fun...

378.55 will complete the System Log table redesign. Those pages are now looking like this:

http://www.lostrealm.ca/temp/dhcp.png
http://www.lostrealm.ca/temp/forward.png
http://www.lostrealm.ca/temp/ipv6.png
http://www.lostrealm.ca/temp/routing.png

They are much more readable, and after having done the first few, the others were thankfully easier to implement.

With the 6117 GPL merge, 378.55 will also include the new webui login scheme. I tweaked the login page a bit so it will at least fit on a typical laptop screen. 6117 also migrates the OpenVPN key/certs to the JFFS partition, which should ease up the nvram pressure (especially on the RT-AC3200's limited space).

Also, the recent memory optimizations done by Asus on minidlna were reverted, and a few updates from upstream were applied. Initial tests shown that it resolved the crashing issues some users were experiencing with recent builds.

There's currently no ETA as to a release date, as there's still some things I need to look into, and also determine what will be added in 378.55, or postponed to a future release. A public beta should be out in the near future tho, as this build will require some larger scale betatest due to some of the changes involved.

Eric,

Congratulations on on the coding break through. During my coding days (long ago before I got pushed into mgmt) nothing felt better then finally nailing that nasty bug/design that kept you awake at night. Go celebrate!

The new pages look great, you're right then are more readable.
I have tried the new webui login on my development AC68U and I actually like the scheme. It's looks much more polished.

Hey, it's July and with the weather patterns we are having in the Northeast - take your time and enjoy the summer. We all appreciate your efforts and know it is a "labour of love" (note the Canadian spelling!).

I look forward to beta testing and hope I can contribute in any small way.

Cheers
jjg

PS: Happy Canada Day!!!!

Those screenshots are a nice improvement over the stock ASUS F/W. I am definitely looking forward to the next update when it's ready. Cheers.

congrats on the fixes, i hope this fixes the issue where settings entered into the webpage are saved differently on the device. It doesnt matter if it uses more ram since the routers come with 256MB of ram so the firmware doesnt need to use less RAM, just as long as there isnt memory leaks.

Congratulations on the breakthrough Merlin.
Good work.

I'm realy looking forward to this release. :)

Merlin,

Many thanks for the update. Far be it for people like me, at the bottom of the food chain, to question "the big fish" but did you mean for the above quotation to read as it does i.e. the words in red? I'm assuming you meant jffs, but if I'm wrong I apologise.

That's correct, I'll update the original post.

This sounds amazing! Thanks a lot for all your efforts. I also prefer to be patient so that we will have a rock solid release that doesn't need to get updated again due to various bugs surfacing shortly after it's been released.

I've come across some rumors saying that the latest beta releases of the Quantenna blob on the AC87 have completely turned things around for the better regarding 5GHz reliability and that even Beamforming is now possible without issues with the absolut latest ones (I've to say that I find this hard to believe though, after a whole year since the release with constant problems regarding AC Beamforming). Is there any chance that one of these latest updates will make it into the AC87 version of the 378.55 release?

Keep up the good work!

I need source code for that. Asus does not release source code to these beta releases, and if they were to release it in the next two weeks, I don't want to delay this release by an extra 3-4 weeks to be able to merge, test and debug a newer GPL. So that won't happen until 378.56 at the earliest.
