I own a 2013 Dell XPS ultrabook that came with an Intel Centrino N6230 wifi card. Since the board came with two antennas, will those work with the two antenna AC wifi cards? Or are those antennas graded specifically for N only? Assuming I can upgrade to an AC wifi card, what card would you recommend? The obvious one I can think of is the Intel AC7260, but I've also heard decent things about Killer Wireless and AzureWave as well.

Just wanted to gauge what others here are using in their own laptops. Pros/Cons, etc. I'm currently using an RT-N66U router but will be upgrading to an AC router soon when my daughter leaves for college. She'll be inheriting the RT-N66U.

Thanks!

I upgraded my wifi card in my Dell desktop(XPS 8500 SE) to the Intel ac7260 and use it with the Asus ac87u router without any issues at all. The latest Intel drivers for this card(April, 2015) work flawlessly and connect at a link rate of 866.7 all the time. I'm currently running FW 5587 in my ac87u and get consistent 135 - 140 mbps on the main floor of our house with the router on the second floor.

Thanks for the reply mag905. I'm not sure what AC router I'll go with yet, but I did find out that the antenna wires currently in my ultrabook will work with the 7260 and that the BIOS whitelist won't be an issue for such an upgrade to occur. I'll likely go with the AC7260 wifi card when it's all said and done.

Im also using the same intel wifi card and it works well. Intel really makes very nice networking stuff and this card so happens to be cheap and much better than using a usb wifi card.

If your laptop has a bios whitelist there may be hacked BIOS that helps.
