What is the simplest way to remotely access a computer and a printer. I have a programming called Pro Presenter .It is a presentation program for a Church that needs to be updated during the week. Security is not a big issue just a simple way to access the computer and the printer. I am using a Netgear router. Nighthawk R8000. Thanks

Rather than punch a big hole in your firewall/router, just use an intermediary application like TeamViewer. I would assume that the PC has access to the printer, so you only really need to remote into the PC, right?

I think the PC has access to printer wirelessly. But would like to have seperare access to printer for other users

You want remote users to be able to print to the printer? That's not as simple as it sounds actually. Now you're talking about using something like OpenVPN. Not sure if that's supported on the R8000 but my guess would be yes, since it is supported on other recent Netgear routers.

It is supported but it seems a bit complicated. I can try it out and see how it goes. Is there any way I can use port forwarding to access the printer? I have dynamic DNS set up. Or is it possible to use DMZ and point it to printers IP address

The problem is that there are so many different ways to print, depending on whether the client is Windows, Apple, etc. You'd have to create port forwards for several different protocols. Putting it in the DMZ would certainly be easier, but then you've potentially cut it off from the internal LAN. The cleanest solution would be to use OpenVPN.

Thanks so much for the advice. I will try the open VPN
