a really good wifi extender for asus 87u

Hey All.

i got some problem that my wireless is dropping out on the 87u when im doing skype and such.. it is when im in the bedroom i think it bcos the walls are concerete that it cant get tho with a strong signal.

can anyone recommed a really good signal wifi extender for the router.

A wifi extender isn't necessarily the best solution, depending on whether or not you can run cable, or if powerline is a possibility. Either of options plus an access point running in pure AP mode are in most cases preferable to an AP set as an extender -- bandwidth won't be cut in half and you ensure quicker and more properly routed traffic. If you're actually limited to an extended for whatever reason, then I would do another Asus model, not necessarily an 87U, but at least something in the family that can do WDS between itself and the 87U. If WDS is not possible but you're cool with bandwidth being halved and not necessarily being able to pass traffic between wireless endpoints connected to the two difference units, than any AC-class all-in-one with firmware capable of acting as a generic AP repeater should work. I would keep the chipset/radios on the new unit as close to the 87U's as possible, though.

A wireless extender isn't likely to help you much. You say you have concrete walls that interfere with signal, they'll interfere with your extender uplink too.

Yep, and an extender ain't gonna fix things there - the dropouts are a cause of a problematic design with the 87U - simply put.
