The 6975 update was not in beta when I last saw it on the update list.

It was probably too buggy then, which would explain the numerous betas since then.

As has been commented and repeated extensively, Asus' takes a while to replicate files to all their servers world wide.
You miss the point. It was on the 68U site and was taken down. It was not beta when it was taken down.

No, the point is that with their many servers, they cannot all be expected to be synced at all times. There are local issues and maintenance aspects that have to be taken into consideration too. Just because it was there doesn't mean that something other than human error took it off or otherwise made it unavailable.

Still waiting on an update! I need the VPN feature fixed. I'm getting frustrated waiting :X

Seems to be working for some. You might want to try the latest beta?

ASUS are too accident prone with their coding for us to be doing their testing for them in our production systems.

Nobody suggested you do that on a production environment. :)

Neither should you be considering using even a 'final' firmware release on this decidedly consumer focused equipment in a professional setting either, correct?

A home system is as much a production system as any in a commercial or educational environment unless you wish to be adventurous.

No, a home system will affect a family or a small subset of them depending on the issue at hand and most likely will not affect them monetarily, more of an annoyance at best and a few hours of inconvenience at worst.

A commercial or educational environment issue affects hundreds or thousands of people and can result in lost wages, lost contracts, positions and even legal recourse depending on the agreements in place with the company providing the hardware and service level commitments.

I don't know your definition of adventurous, but I'm sure I wouldn't want to risk confusing the context of production systems when the stakes are so different. :)

Thanks for the input ... I'm still planning on being patient ... _6975 hasn't shown back on their site in quite some time now ...

I may just try contacting their support to figure out why the VPN service can't/isn't working ...

FYI, I emailed ASUS Support with the following:

I have had problems with my router "locking up". The only solution appears to be to
power cycle the router. I went to the Asus Website to check if there was a firmware
update and I discovered that the production firmware version 3.0.0.4.378_6975 that I
downloaded and installed in July is no longer listed. Has this version been
withdrawn? If so what should I do, as I still have this version installed on my router?

They replied:

It has been withdrawn, likely due to the issues you are expierencing.

I advise you to downgrade to version Version 3.0.0.4.378.4585

Very interesting. 6975 is still out there for other variants of the router such as the RT-AC68P. It is identical code to that 6975 which was posted for the RT-AC68U as I checked the MD5 hash for both.

I am using 6975 without issue but I don't enable some of the AiProtection features that are provided. Nor do I use attached USB devices or AiCloud. Also no IPv6 as it's incompatible with Netflix on my ISP for admin of quota free downloads.
