Maybe this is not worth a new thread, but I didn't find any suitable threads from the first 4 pages...

RT-N56U was started about 2 days ago. Today I noticed that the 5 GHz WiFi network was not online as my laptop did not connect to it. It couldn't be seen in the network list even though the laptop was right next to the router. Trying to connect to it as a hidden network didn't work either.

I opened the web interface and everything was normal there. The 5 GHz radio led was also on.

I rebooted the router and now the 5 GHz network seems to work. Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this? Could the AiRadar function have an effect?

Firmware version is 3.0.0.4.376.3879. I checked the download page and there were no new firmware versions besides beta versions which I don't want to use.

Another question: I scanned the router address from LAN using nmap and these ports were open:

Before reboot:

Code:
PORT STATE SERVICE
53/tcp open domain
80/tcp open http
515/tcp open printer
3394/tcp open unknown
3838/tcp open unknown
5473/tcp open unknown
9100/tcp open jetdirect
9998/tcp open distinct32
18017/tcp open unknown
41468/tcp open unknown

After reboot:

Code:
PORT STATE SERVICE
53/tcp open domain
80/tcp open http
515/tcp open printer
3394/tcp open unknown
5473/tcp open unknown
9100/tcp open jetdirect
9998/tcp open distinct32
18017/tcp open unknown
42984/tcp open unknown

53 (DNS), 80 (HTTP), 515 (printer sharing) and 9100 (printer sharing) are self-explanatory, but what are those other ports? None of them was open to WAN according to ShieldsUp so I guess they don't pose a security risk...

To the first part, yes I have seen this as well. It doesn't happen too often. I am trying to remember if it was on Asus firmware only, or if I also experienced it on Padavan.
Unfortunately I do not know a work around.

This happened with RT-N66U today. My laptop suddenly lost the 5 GHz WiFi connection. Everything was normal in the web interface, and the led was also on. After reboot it works again. Router uptime was about 23 hours.
