I'm currently using a TrendNet TPL-420E2K kit. It's three pronged. The only problem with it is that it blocks the top outlet from being able to take a three prong plug. I have considered getting a powerline adapter kit that has an outlet built into it. However, I'm wondering if any of those are available that are designed so they don't block the top outlet?

I include photos of adapters plugged into U.S. duplex outlets in each review. The TRENDnet adapter you cite doesn't block the outlet.

I should have been more specific. I'm looking for a powerline adapter that has an outlet built into it which doesn't block the top outlet in a US duplex. You're right the TrendNet I have doesn't block a normal three prong plug. However, the plug on my UPS is three pronged, but in a circular housing and it needs a lot of room.

Some of the powerline adapters have the passthru and clearance for a 2-pin plug, but have mechanical issues with the adjacent socket for a general 3 conductor plug... this can be an issue in a home office where outlets/sockets might be at a premium...

Yes, that is my situation and why I'm asking.

That one includes a surge protector, which might impact performance...

alternate would be a 6 plug adapter - Leviton has a 6 plug adapter and it goes for 4 bucks at Home Depot...

Caveat here is the same as power strips though - don't plug more stuff into the outlet than the circuit is rated to handle...

I own four LinkSys powerline adapters. They leave room for a plug in the top outlet, but they touch and there's pressure so I don't like it. I have the adapters connected to the outlet via 12 inch extension cords. This seems to have zero impact on performance.

Just got a pair of TRENDnet TPL-421E2K adapters in. They have pass through outlets and don't block the top duplex outlet.

Review probably next week. Watch the Powerline Charts if you're antsy. Test results appear there first.

You said top duplex. You didn't say whether you meant two prong plugs or three prong plugs.
I understood that "duplex" refers to two outlets in one box. A two-prong (no ground) outlet -- haven't been used since the 1950's? (two-pronged plugs are another matter.)

Thanks for recent pics...

It's the physical clearance along with pass-thru that many are worried about...

=o, this is an issue for many..
