New Around Here
I currently have a Linksys WRT1900AC. It works well but is not covering my bedroom very well. I live in a modest 1500sq/ft house but it is not providing the needed coverage. I am looking for the router that provides the best speed at distance. Not necessarily the one that will hold a signal the longest but gives the best speed at the longest distance, I hope that makes sense. Cost is not an issue but am looking for a consumer router, not something business class as I do not have the expertise to set it up. Really the only needed feature is dyndns service but it seems pretty much everything has that feature these days. Thanks a bunch.

you should be posting in the wireless section for this. The thing is that even if you get a new wifi router the range isnt going to matter much because it also depends on your clients as well. What you want are better antennas or you can try to look for a wifi router with better wifi radios and than get better antennas.

Based on my experience, in Consumer Grade Router/AP's, you have the best one - the WRT1900ac has very good range and performance across both bands.

Hi,

If you just need range and no need for any other services (cloud or file server) the best choice is the Asus RT-N66U with this firmware - you can't beat the price/performance ratio!

But still you may experience lack of coverage in same areas of the house, as it depends on the walls between the router and your bed room...

If needed you have to add a second router on a strategic position to cover the rest of the house - same as I did (see footer) - and run a cable (or power line adapter) from the main router to the 2nd one.

With kind regards
Joe
