I updated to the latest official fw 9177 and did a full factory reset. After playing with the new features decided to go merlin latest 755. After the reboot I retained the new features from 9177 like the traffic analyzer. I have no complaints so far with regards to stability but I would like to refrain from an additional reset because I figure it will remove the 9177 traffic update. The main reason for the flash to merlin was once again AI protect began to fail, no malicious sites were blocked and email notification failed. After several reboots decided to give merlin a shot. All Ai protect features resumed proper working order and after 24hrs no need for a reboot. Just figured I would share the positive results with my newly acquired FW. Hope to add a few more firewall rules and max out password credentials then set and forget the constant reboots/config of the official FW releases. :) Tip of my hat to Merlin :)

What you're seeing is not so much positive results, but bugs that seemingly work out to your advantage.

I would recommend you pick one firmware or the other and perform a full reset to factory defaults after flashing to the firmware you want to keep running.

The results you're seeing are not to be expected and I would never suggest to anyone else to do what seems to be working for you.

I figure it would be best practice to stick to one or the other. I was just really impressed with the new traffic analyzer. My network isn't hosting anything that is sensitive but I like any additional information I can get. Never had more then 3 days with any of the official releases before a reboot was required. Perhaps I have jumped the gun but once I hit the 60hrs uptime I will repost my findings. I was gonna ask if I had the best of both worlds. IP monitoring with RAM logs of usage :)

Out of curiosity do you think my installation poses a security threat ?

Not specifically, but potentially. Because what you are running is nothing either firmware author ever intended.

I would suggest you do a complete factory reset and reconfigure the router. It's really the only way to be sure things are working properly. I do this with every firmware i put on my routers even if the change log or the author of the code says it's not needed.
