New Around Here
*This is specifically a WIRED CONNECTION Issue*

So I've had my WRT1900AC since last December up and running. I had not had any issues with it to say the least until recently. I was using FW 1.1.8 and recently tried FW 1.1.10 with no resolution. To add, the router was reset to defaults after the new FW was loaded.

I keep having issues with major spikes in bandwidth. Thus far I am trying to ensure it's not my connection but given it's sporatic, I do not know the best way to troubleshoot the situation. Would anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ben

AC adapter might be going soft - if the spikes align with other network activity...

I think that the first thing that I'd do is to reset the router to factory defaults, and see how the wired connection bandwidth looks.

If you've already tried that, sorry, never mind *smile*.

If you do that to look at this problem, be sure to manually re-enter your settings.

We're at a point where the WRT1900acV1's have been deployed, and AC adapters are starting to age out...

Most folks start shopping for new AP's due to stability issues, when replacing the AC adapter is the first logical choice, esp. if nothing else has changed...

You simply mean the AC Adapter for the router? I've already done a reset and the real issue is I don't know the best way to troubleshoot if it's the cable modem or not.

Would it be worthwhile to call Linksys for an RMA since I'm still under the year warranty?

If you're under warranty, then yes, I would reach out to them...

(and yep, the AC Adapter - they can go soft after a period of time, so when a lot of network activity happens, the current and/or voltage can drop below spec just enough to cause errors)
