Hi all,

I have finally given up with the Ruckus R600 AP that i have, mainly due to it dropping (phone) clients all the time.

I have done various tweaks, inluding BSSi rates, roam factors etc etc, but when phones are left unattended for a few hours, they are getting dropped etc etc and i just cant be doing with it anymore.

So, im looking at the Engenius ews360 ac Ap, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them or if anyone had any opinions on them?

Many thanks!

you could always go with the netgear r7000, they apparently have survived a hundred clients. I suggested it mainly because it uses broadcom and software to handle traffic instead of using the features the hardware has. Make sure to check it has the features you need first though.

I changed my fav from Linksys to ASUS. Quite happy with last 2 ASUSes I bought.
Good value.

No Netgear for me except Pro switches. Nor D-Link.

I've used Engenius' outdoor bridge/AP in bridge mode. Good. They're owned by a big silicon house. Not sure I'd choose them for a commodity WiFi router for indoor use.

Too bad about Rukus. Years back, I worked with them professionally and they were good. But they got hammered with the demise of metro-WiFi (Earthlink).

Was going to say, I've used ECB-350's as standalone N300 APs for ages and they've been rock solid. Just run and run and run. I guess mileage may vary for others. o_O

Ok, quick update,

Bit the bullet and ordered a 1750H to try and i have to say it seems to be quite a bit better than the R600 in terms of stability and general throughput and range etc. I had bought two as i thought they would both be needed to cover the upstairs and downstairs, however, one is adequate.

It even deals with handoff/roaming much better (i have an R500 in the garage to serve outdoors).

I am liking the fact that the web interface is less, well, 'cluttered'.

It also displays RSSI rates for each device, power levels can be tweaked easily per dbm etc etc.

It has "Fast Roaming" and "Fast Handoff" (which can be adjusted), although when speaking to tech support, he implied that it wouldn't work on these units and was only designed for the 'Neutron' series.

However, a couple of issues i did have was the firmware upgrade, and the web gui does not seem to work all that well on Chrome. Switched over to Safari (its mainly a MAC household) and it worked smoothly.

I still have a bit of tweaking to do, but, at the moment, pleased with the results.

So, if anyone is interested in 2 Ruckus R600's they can be found for sale in the classifieds!

:D

Good to know. I usually find EnGenius (Senao) to be a nice middle ground between run-of-the-mill "SMB" and full-blown enterprise stuff. Not the tops in any given area, but usually nice and stable with good enough feature set to cobble together what I'm looking to do.
