Hi all.

I just bought the Linksys 1900ACS. In the last week I have had a wired computer and then my wired Sonos bridge lose internet connection.

They get the connection back when I unplug the ethernet wire from the port and then plug it back in.

Sounds like I got a bad router?
I never had this happen even once for 3 years of use of a Linksys E4200 with the same exact computer and Sonos bridge.

I don't want to get left with a router that I have to keep maintaining to do basic functions and I can still return it.

Just want to make sure that it is not somehow user error with a new router.

Thanks!

What did you have previously before putting the WRT1900ACS online?

Should have read further and noticed that...

The WRT1900/1200 series - the 2.4GHz default radio configs can cause issues - try putting it into B/G/N-Mixed mode there, and see if things settle out a bit...

Thanks. I will give it a try.

I have also read some people saying there was an unfixed problem of Bottle-necking with this router?

What is that exactly? Is it a known problem with this router?

(I'm definitely beginning to regret just listening to CNET's recommendations for routers, which seem to be based only on what they are capable of, rather than how well they actually work).

Thanks!

It's not just CNET. No one source for reviews is going to offer the whole picture. Reviews are always "point in time" so they very rarely cover things like long-term performance, stability, and other such things.

I've used a half dozen AC1900 routers and the Linksys WRT beats them all in my environment. Tweak the settings and you'll be alright.

the only issue i have with the wrt 1900ac is its stock firmware , uts just weak and lacks what may want and expect

when i tested the wrt 1900ac it didnt even have the ability to disable obss coexistence and so the 2.4 gig was stuck at 1/2 its available bandwidth , i assume the ACS is the same as i dont expect linksys have moved away from that gui they have been persisting with

sure in terms od pure speed its as good as other 1900ac routers and its usb 3 throughput was the best out at the time , but pure performance isnt the be all an end all , hopefully with dd wrt now becoming available it should have better usability

It's worth mentioning that the OP has already purchased the WRT so my comment was aimed more at saving him the time and money of going out and trying a bunch of other routers, only to find out they aren't really that much better.
