Hello & Introduction

  • SNBForums Code of Conduct

SNBForums is a community for everyone, no matter what their level of experience.

Please be tolerant and patient of others, especially newcomers. We are all here to share and learn!

The rules are simple: Be patient, be nice, be helpful or be gone!

I was actually looking for an intro section but I didn't find any. So allow me to do it here and I guess the future new members may have their intro here too...unless our big bosses here (moderators) will create a separate one :)

Yes, it's a great site and glad to be here too. Read a lot of interesting threads already and hopefully I can get some opinions from my inquiry and share mine as well.

Hello,
I am a new members to this forum, however, I read and like this site since years. :)

I am QNAP-user and active writer in corresponding German-speaking forums. I own several ARM- and Intel machines of this manufacturer.

In particular I like this site because of the high-informative and standardised NAS-reviews!

Cheers
Challenger

Welcome!

I vote for an official introduction thread. It seems to work quite well on other forums that I visit.

Hi. My name is RMerlin, and I am a router-aholic. I have 11 of them, scattered all over the place, plus a dead one that doesn't have a case.

Do you also use them as servers? You could have your own cloud made from routers and internet connected to all routers directly and have cloud routing. Who knows you could be the first to invent a reliable mesh networking for the homes :p.

Does ASUS give them to you or do you have to go out and buy them?

They're all turned off and unplugged (I only ran two Ethernet wires from the switch to them). I plug them and turn them on as needed.

The RT-N66U (my first), I bought. The others were provided by Asus (or other manufacturers for the non-Asus ones I've had these past few years).

EDIT: the RT-N16 (currently in a drawer) I also bought myself, after the user-donated RT-N16 died.
