I have a 1TB Seagate connected to an RT-AC66U through USB, running Merlin 378.56 firmware.

The drive is recognized on the router admin page. Windows 7 recognizes the drive on the network and it functions correctly, but only for a certain amount of time (a few hours). After this point, the drive is not recognized by windows, though it still appears on the admin page. I still see the RT-AC66U-60C8 in the Favorited places, but clicking it says that it is not accessible. I also have it mapped as a network drive, but clicking this tells me that it is not accessible and that "not enough storage space is available to process this command." Not sure what this means, as the drive has 700GB free.

Also, perhaps worth noting is that the router's RAM flat lines at 77% while the drive is not responsive.

The only way to fix this is to physically unplug the drive from the router and plug it in again.

what about when you access via \\192.168.1.1

That might work, unless, of course, the AP isn't on 192.168.1.1...

\\<host IP> would be better guidance, and if one doesn't know, they can always fire up a command prompt and check ipconfig... the gateway address is the router address in most small home networks...

Some of the Seagate USB solutions seem to have a 'sleep' mode that the router can't wake up (I remember occasionally reading about similar problems). Do you have another drive that you can try?
