@RMerlin was wondering about the VPN Client i got 2 under the option Redirect Internet traffic >policy rules hooked up to my VPN succesfully but the stats option still gives me this error message. We debugged the log using Verb 5 and it connected without issues at all.

OpenVPN Client 1 - Error connecting - IP/Routing conflict

it is connected properly tested it with the vpn service and the guys that owns the service saw no errors in their logs either could it be a bug in the software ?

since the openvpn connects without issues and both clients gets connected to the service but still stats gives me that error message.

On firmware RT-AC56U_380.59_beta2-gda78c52

Make sure that both clients aren't using the same IP range, otherwise they will indeed be in conflict. For instance, they must both connect to different servers.

Same issue with one client. But seems to work OK. After reboot warning is gone. After disconnect, connect the warning is back and gone after new reboot.

but @RMerlin indulge me here

if i got two devices thats supposed to use the same vpn service one has lanip
client 1 10.0.0.40 0.0.0.0 VPN
the other
client2 10.0.0.16 0.0.0.0 VPN
and the vpn is set and on Redirect Internet traffic > Policy Rules and shared from there the VPN does not allow portforwarding so ports to the outside is not an issue now when looking at the stats

TUN/TAP read bytes 180,365,449 TUN/TAP write bytes 3,256,865,109
TCP/UDP read bytes 3,415,919,178 TCP/UDP write bytes 272,997,278
Auth read bytes 3,256,869,314 pre-compress bytes 5,903,519
post-compress bytes 4,712,001 pre-decompress bytes 1,346,871
post-decompress bytes 1,672,169

yet Error connecting - IP/Routing conflict

but both devices can connect and download and upload without issues if there was an conflict they wouldnt be able to upload

really dont see an option on ranges they get assigned the vpn ip and that should be enough

It's about subnetting and routing. If the remote server uses a subnet mask that overlaps, then there is no guarantee that your traffic will use the correct tunnel. It _might_ work, but it's also just as likely to produce unpredictable results. Hence the warning.

The reason why it probably doesn't impact you negatively is because you are mostly overriding the default routes by the use of policy-based routing. But since there is no simple way to validate if a user has properly configured all his manual routes, the warning makes sense to ensure that things DO work properly.
