    RT-N66U with strange lag spikes

I have just made a very interesting observation. I wanted to install my network printer and while Windows was searching for it the latency issue happened again. All of a sudden I got latencies of several hundred ms to several thousand when pinging the router and some packages were even lost...

    RT-N66U with strange lag spikes

Thank you for your quick reply and sorry for not being clear enough. I spent the past hours on an odyssey. It actually seems that it was my PC's fault, because neither other computers nor the adapter I use seemed to have the issue (thanks for that tip btw, I was totally fixated on the idea that...

    RT-N66U with strange lag spikes

Quite recently I started to notice issues with the latency in online games. I first assumed it was my provider but it turns out that my RT-N66U seems to be the culprit. When doing a ping I usually get the normal times of 1ms but there will one of the four that sits at between 1500 and 2000ms in...

    Does asuscomm.com DDNS work?

Ok, I think I know what happened. Apparently I forgot to enable the DDNS again after updating to that bigger NVRAM firmware some time ago. Embarrassing. :( But: It still won't work. I already signed up for that DDNS thing almost a year ago and therefore I know all the necessary information. Yet...

    Does asuscomm.com DDNS work?

It returns "non-existent domain" in both cases. I can't even access it over my phone's 3G connection which should be completely independent from my internet provider. Is there any way to fix this? I can't even reach asuscomm.com itself at all.

    Does asuscomm.com DDNS work?

I'm not sure I understand this correctly. When I use the subdomain I signed up for with the nslookup command it points to the router: Server: www.asusnetwork.net Address: 192.168.1.1 I guess that's correct?

    Does asuscomm.com DDNS work?

No, it says it couldn't find asuscomm.com/was unable to resolve the target system name.

    Does asuscomm.com DDNS work?

It hasn't been working for weeks now for me. This is not very useful. :(

    Firmware 3.0.0.4.246 almost there

Is there somewhere a guide on how to update to the new 64k firmware with a clean install? I always read that I should wipe the nvram through telnet, but I have absolutely no idea how that works. :( Any help would be appreciated.

    Asus RT-N66U Firmware Upgrade??

I'm also still using the .112 version and everything is working great except for internal speed. I connected a USB HDD to the router and copying to and from the disc takes ages. Files are usually being transferred with 4 or 5 megabytes, which seems way too slow, especially seeing that I have...

    RT-N66U Media/FTP server setup

I set up the FTP server today and so far it seems very easy. Just go through the 3 steps provided by the admin tool. So far it seems to work fine, I haven't tried much more yet. It would be really nice to be able to set up some kind of server to stream media from (to the internet, not within...

    RT-N66U Media/FTP server setup

I couldn't try yet, because I can't use the HDD that I wanted to use. But as soon as I get to it I will let you know how it worked for me.

    RT-N66U Media/FTP server setup

Thanks a lot, that worked for me. If one knows what to do it seems so easy. :) I will fiddle around with the FTP settings some more, I'm feeling close to a breakthrough. ;)

    RT-N66U Media/FTP server setup

Hi, I couldn't really find any information on this, so I'm posting here in hopes that someone can help me with this. I plugged a 400GB HDD into my router. Recognition was no problem but now I'm a little stuck on how to get everything set up. I basically want to create a media...

RT-N66U port forwarding. A solution and a question

Updating the firmware was the first thing I did after unpacking the router, so I hadn't made any settings at that point. Do I still need to clear the nvram? And if I clear the nvram, can I just import the settings from a file or will I have to enter them manually all over again? I'm using...

RT-N66U port forwarding. A solution and a question

The problem is that the "Apply" button in the DHCP window doesn't work for me. Is anyone else having this issue? Yeah maybe they added Bittorrent. I was just surprised that it opened exactly the ports needed, because I'm not using the default ports. If it does this for other programs too it...

RT-N66U port forwarding. A solution and a question

I will use this thread to post some of my questions too. I just installed the RT-N66U and I wanted to set up port forwarding. I'm coming from an older Netgear router where this was really easy, so I'm having some trouble with all the technical stuff now. I go to "LAN -> DHCP server" but I don't...

    Bittorrent, Gaming, many devices

I understand that every connection reduces the bandwith, but it shouldn't be the way it currently is, especially not with a 100mbit connection. I already reduced the recommended maximum of connections in my Bittorrent client's settings, but even a single torrent will make the internet unusable...

    Bittorrent, Gaming, many devices

Of course I am throttling my bandwith when using torrents even now. But I think I read somewhere that the WPN824 can only manage a limited number of connections (256?) whereas the RT-N66U can manage over 30.000. Isn't this also a potential bottleneck for Bittorrent? The main area the router...

    Bittorrent, Gaming, many devices

Hi, I have been searching around the website by myself a little, but I dont feel experienced enough to make a decision on my new router. I'm not that tech-savvy, so please forgive me if I mix up some technical termini. First some information about the current situation: I have a...
